Recently, my gf has been hinting that she wants to get rid of her Scion TC and get a brand new Jeep. This made me really happy (even though it's a Jeep :p ). I would love to begin sharing my love of modding and the outdoors (Eagle scout) with my gf/future wife (she is the girl of my dreams). She supports my interests and isn't bothered by me modding my truck and I don't think she ever would be as long as the bills are paid every month, in full and on time. I have made it very clear that I will never get rid of my Tacoma. :D

I want to show her why I love my truck and why I am so passionate about it. I would love to ease her into off-roading with me and camping but I am afraid it might be too much for her or that she might not like it. We go fishing in the summer about every other weekend but she still has me putting the worms on the hook for her  However, for her birthday, I am taking her to a ranch to learn how to ride horses.

The future I have for this truck is a DD/overlanding-over-the-weekend rig. I want it to be a "go anywhere, do anything" self-sufficient and self reliable vehicle. I want to take it out to Moab at least once and I want to be able to show her that the places off the beaten path can be just as amazing, if not more amazing, as those on it.

For those of you who have significant others who share the same interests and hobbies (i.e. off-roading and camping), if they weren't into those things before you met, got married etc; How did you introduce them to it? How did they like it? Do they support your love of your rig even though you're married?

Without the typical "don't get married" answers, I am looking for a compromise to keep the woman I love and my truck.

    Discuss.

Take her out off oading on a day trip. Let her drive in an EASY section, so that she gets the feel for it. Are you ready to do all her mods and service her vehicle?

I'd start off with a light off-road/hike to a picnic area, and go from there.

My wife hated and still hates to just go off-roading, however she will go with me to get to a hiking trail or to our prospecting/expedition outings.

It took me some time and baby steps to have her along with me out in the hills so to speak.

Easy 8, my favorite variant of the Sherman.

Are you calling be a bitch, you fucker?

Oh yeah, OP, go find a good state park with woods and mapped trails, and camping. And a shitter. Start her out easy. And have a campfire and booze. That way you won't mind talking to her and it will be romantic. Your success will be all about how she feels during the experience.

Then when she is used to that, find a state park with a bunch fo loud bro losers camped out and camp next to them. When she says, this sucks, you say, yeah, well, for peace and quiet, we need to go where those types aren't willing to go...

Plant the seed to go farther afield and more rustic camping.

Oh and go on full moons or during meteor showers.

    Bitches love meteor showers, IYKWIM.

Follow these steps, and before you know it, you'll PITB on top of Everest.

    And welcome to TW.
