I have the same setup. I had to cut the center of my grill out. I bought mine off ebay, 5 piece set, included the insert for the hood scoop. I had to cut this part out. the rest was just bolt over or screw on.

lol not as bad as it sounds, I was worried at first too. I only had the truck a few months at the time. I just masked off most of it to protect it while making the cuts. The grill unit comes out really easy so you dont have to do the cutting while it's on the truck.

I can relate hehe. I saved my pennies for a long 3yrs just to get her.
I was like..am I really going to start cutting her up lol. You might be able to bolt it over, I couldn't see anyway for that to work and have it look decent with the kit I got.

I did the cutting with a tool like this that I had at work. Then just a little palm sanding, then a some rattle can metalic grey paint. honestly once the grill is installed you really cant see any of the spots I had to cut anyway.

Sorry to dredge up an oldish thread, but I was thinking of doing the same mod with a bolt-over billet insert.

I held off buying it because i couldn't see how it would fit flush with the centre emblem on the stock grille. Cutting it out sure solves that problem!

But my (noobish) question is: what do you bolt the new insert to if you cut that part out?

All the bolt-over inserts ive found seem to fasten on to that part.
