So. My 2.7 L (1998 280K) has been acting up in the past few days. I was driving it one day and the truck just shut off. Before that incident i replaced the EFI relay on the fuse panel in the engine bay. When the truck died i immediately popped the hood and tried swapping those relays and that did nothing.

After my friend pulled me home, i popped the hood this time and tested the contacts on the fuse panel and everything was good. I was receiving power from both contacts on the EFI relay. So this time i jumped the contacts with a small piece of wire and the truck started.

HOWEVER, it will not stay running and i now have four trouble codes. (P0100 P0110 P1300 P1310).

I am wondering what my next plan of attack is. I would like as most help as possible to try and solve this problem.

I'll do my good deed for the day!
I looked up all the codes for you in my FSM
Before you jumped the terminals on the EFI relay socket did you have any codes or CEL?

P0100: Mass air flow meter; (open or short is MAF circuit, MAF meter or ECM)

P0110: Intake Air Temperature circuit; (open or short in IAT sensor circuit, IAT sensor built into MAF or ECM)

P1300: Ignitor Circuit malfunction no. 1: (Ignition Coil No. 1 harness is open or shorted, Ignition Coil No. 1 circuit poor electrical connection, Faulty Ignition Coil No. 1, ECM)

P1310: Ignitor Circuit malfunction no. 3: (Ignition Coil No. 3 harness is open or shorted, Ignition Coil No. 3 circuit poor electrical connection, Faulty Ignition Coil No. 3, ECM)

Do you want the procedure for checking you coils? I can provide those if you want.
Also check/clean your MAF its easy and could be some of the issue.
Unfourtuneatly it sounds like this might all be culminating at the ECM though.

Theres a guy on youtube who has been a mechanic for 46 years. He's always answering people's questions. I would suggest messaging him on there or leaving a comment on one of his videos similar to your issue. His name is Scotty Kilmer. Really helpful guy

There is gas in the tank. filled it up about a week ago. There were no codes before this happened. The truck may have 280k but it runs like a champ. I also changed the fuel filter about a month or so ago.

I would love to know how to check the Coils.

I was thinking it was the ECM to, i just wanted to rule out any other possibilities.

    Thank you all for helping!

Is there a common connector in the harness that these things run through? I would at least trace the harness and clean up any connectors. Odd to have that many codes at once unless the ECM is wacky. I would reset all the codes and try it again, but I am leaning toward a bad connection somewhere or the ECM itself.

You can access ecm easily. Just take glove box out and upper plastic. You can see and access all plugs in ecm. It's up to the left a bit. Can't miss it.

I have bought a new ECM and replaced the original one. That didn't solve the problem I was having... Still the sane issues.

Now I'm thinking it's a bad relay. I have replaced the EFI relay under the hood.

I found this relay under the dash (picture below)... Could this be the problem?

Was thinking the same thing. Sounds like a electrical issue. Check all the wiring in engine bay.

Under hood fuse box? I bypassed circuit opening relay. Power to fuel pump full time. You hear fuel pump as soon as you turn key. Starts but idles high. I bent a piece of copper wire into u shape to fuel pump circuit plug.

What happened with this? I have similar codes with a 3.4L and wont start really, hard backfire.
