Thinking about trading my truck for a Lexus

I am having a hard time deciding on what to do, and figured I would get some thoughts and opinions here. I love my Tacoma but a Lexus just came in at work, and is hard to pass up. I have been weighing out the pros and cons and I am torn down the middle. The Lexus is a 2011 ES-350 with 30,000 miles on it. It is fully loaded...navi, backup camera, parking sensors, heated and cooled seats, power sunshade, moon roof, ect ect. The car would be certified so I would have 3 full years and up to 100,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty. The color on the car is exactly what I like on a Lexus (pearl white). My truck is a 4 cyl, and not the best on highway trips (power and fuel economy).

I will be moving to Las Vegas in the fall, so I wont have winter or snow to deal with, although there is a lot of desert that would be fun to wheel my truck in. I am thinking about cross country drives though...the Lexus has such a nice ride, and a lot of power.

Here is what makes the decision harder... with nothing out of pocket my payment stays the same. What are your thoughts? Anyone here have an ES350?

I tried going without a truck for about 2 years... It sucked I use my bed daily..

If you don't need the bed space and are okay with not having the option to go off road then by all means go for it. Its a nice car.

    I wouldn't do it.

Get it and then down the stretch buy a used 1st gen and make it a weekend warrior! Personally dig the IS better but they have some balls

Well I bought my mother a rav4 so I already have 2 vehicles, and 2 car loans and don't want 3. So it is either Taco or Lexus.

The IS is too small and uncomfortable, although fun to drive. The LS460 is not practical. As far as Lexus go the ES350 is the best ride other than the LS. I work at Lexus so I drive them all.

I hardly ever haul anything, but when I do its nice to have the truck. I like to go off road but there is not a whole lot of places to go around here, and I don't do it often. I know out in Vegas there will be a ton of places to go. When I got rid of my Frontier I missed having a truck but then again I didn't get a car that was this nice.

I know on the highway the Lexus will be a lot better, and will be nice cruising around town. But I might miss having a 4x4 truck. If I get the Lex I might buy an older Toyota truck to wheel in the desert.

Cars age and lose value faster than Pammy. A 2005 Tacoma still has its youth, value, and purpose.....

Personally, the GS is the only Lexus I'd seriously consider driving, BUT...the ES is a really nice car. If you don't truly use the truck, why have it? Like you said, not as comfortable, worse MPG, less features. If I didn't need a truck, I would probably be driving a luxury car myself, so I don't blame you at all.

    I think it's just a camera effect/shadow issue.

Doesn't look like it, look at the center console too it's also sepia or whatever, previous owner must've put in a replacement seat cause it looks grey to me

I'm basing my answer partially on common sense/reasonableness. I can't believe we'd be having this conversation about buying a car that had 2 different color seats, haha. I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly) that it's some kind of weird shadow deal where the light is just hitting it perfectly to make it look that way.

    None...yet.
Both are great choices, but what do you want to be when you grow up? A starch shirt Lexus guy, or a jean wearing truck dude? No right answer, and only you can decide.

I don't know man, my gfs rx seats are the same color as the driver seat...I'm saying Lexus does make that color.

Mike, that is a tremendous decision. my wife has owned 2 previous ES's, one being the earlier ES300. they were both tremendous cars: extremely quiet, great ride, fantastic reliability. Even the paint is certainly superior to the Tacomas. That being said, they are two entirely different type of vehicles and only you can determine which is right for you. Personally, i'll never drive anything but a truck, but that deal would be tough to pass up ;)
