Thought I was subbed to your build, guess not. Nice build! The softopper looks awesome, props to you for trying the tan on gold. I was too chicken to do it but Now that I see it, I'm digging it.

How was the AAL install? I read that you suggest taking the leafs off, but once they are off can you just loosen the center bolt or do you still keep them clamped? Did you have to buy anything else other than the D6XL AAL to complete the install? Like longer center center pin or new U-bolts, anything else?

Thanks man! I'm subbed to yours. Too :) gold dc FTW.

For the aal I did not need a longer center pin, and did not need to drill aal hole bigger as some have - lucky me :) once you get the pack out, just a matter of clamping both ends with c clamps, then loosen/remove nut. Electric impact helped, but you can make use of a vice grip to hold pin I think... Now you can carefully loosen c clamps until the leaf will slide in. From here it is repeat in reverse: clamp down both sides, tighten nut onto pin, remove clamps, install pack

I basically followed boxrockets instructions he posted in my build, except removed the pack. For the record he also removed the pack on his install.

    Build the new aal in,

i thought i was subbed to this as well for some reason..well i am now lol. Lookin good! We need to do some mod days bro. Im always workin on the truck and always down to help a fellow tacoma world member work on their truck.

    edit: diggin the bumper bro.
man seems like you've done a lot since i last checked out your build..
I was looking at some of the things in your want list and figured id share my cheapo solution to having portable air: I can fill up one tire from almost flat in like 3 mins. Theres usually a coupon for harbor freight too.. haven't used it much but it worked when i needed it.

^^^ I have the same air compressor from HF. It's worked every time I've needed it. I think I paid $10 after using one of their coupons. I've used mine quite a bit and love it.

i didnt realize you were so close either haha.. thanks. Yea bro just let me know. I get off work around 430 so I'm pretty much free after that everyday. Have you seen that ARB breather kit? Looks pretty sweet IMO. I figure by the time i make the breather how i want, it will end up around the same price. Might have to jerry rig something until i can put funds towards that though haha.

You should consider doing a breather for not only the rear diff but the trans, tcase, and front diff as well.

On vacation and bored... First world problems. Noticed my tires look hella small in this picture... Weird. Can't say the 10.5" width and 33 has let me down but a 12.5" would be real mean lookin. Meant to post this better pic of crap before I left ...

Anyways, also thinking the mods are going to slow down a bit on the truck for awhile which makes me sad :( going back to school for degree. My hope is that with the degree I'll have more $$$ so that is good :) also, wifey is really getting into the offroad/camping thing. Praying that will stay for awhile ha. She is taking a class with me on the 17th @ hh - hoping to hit la grange on the 18th.

Yea I feel it. I'll probably end up doing the same with the breather. Only reason I've been able to afford so much recently is because I'm getting ultra cheap rent. Just have to deal with a crazy landlord lol.. No prob bro. I'd say you could come use my welder but I wouldn't suggest practicing on a HF welder. I'll let you know if I get a new welder though and you can use it if you want.
I'm up in Daly City/San Fran. That's cool just let me know I'm pretty much always down.
I agree about the 12.5's. That's what I will be going with someday..

For sure, I'll pm you some weekends I'm available, maybe we can do something about our diff breathers. Also considering cropping the bottom of my bed... We'll see.

I feel the same way about my 33x10.5 km2's. Wish I would have gone wider like the 12.5. But I guess there's a trade off because wider is heavier and with this being my dd maybe it's better I went with the narrow tire. I was gonna buy 1.25" wheel spacers to give it more of a "squating" stance but then I had to buy cat converters. Anyway I was gonna suggest maybe wheel spacers to push the wheel out a little more

check out NYCO's build, he has a rack that sounds exactly like what you want. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/157700-nyco-build-thread-108.html#post7405952

I have 1.25" bora spacers now haha. I hear ya though. When ready for new tires, I'll probably regear and go to a new wheel/tire combo. I'm on beer budget mode right now :)

Ultra gauge in. Not good on the mpg's... Will be a tad better once calibrated I assume, plus the wifey was backseat driving about going too slow...
