i actually did my wife's car, and my tacoma. for whatever reason, we seem to live in the "bermuda triangle" for clear, healthy headlights.

mine were bad, and my wife's car was becoming downright dangerous.

yellow, hazy, foggy..line up the adjectives. our headlights sucked!!

before buying new ones,i figured i'd try. i'll punt. i took 2000 grit to them, and then followed up with a commercial headlight abrasive compound.

WOW!! my tacoma turned out acceptable, but my wife's car light look brand spanking new! i coated them with a commercial UV coating. (blue magic, compound and coating)

i regret not taking "before" pics. i didnt think it would work. but i did take a pic, of the subie lights.

The change wet sanding head lights makes is pretty insane. Nice job.

Maybe try throwing some sealant on there?

I used the "turtle wax" headlight kit on my son's 12 year old subaru. I have to say, it was easy to use (got kit for electric drill) and it worked great. There was a local coupon here so it only cost about 6 dollars and came with enough stuff to do two sets which included both the sanding and sealing products

What brand uv coating did you use?

Does anyone know if the restore kits or a spray can of uv coating is better (after sanding)? I can only imagine the amount masking off the car required with the uv coating spray can so that it doesn't get all over the paint.

I have applied wax to my headlights when they are brand new seems to keep them from getting hazey or turning yellow.

I've been using this micro-mesh kit for years when my headlights start to turn yellow. Found out about it at work years ago. We use it to take scratches out of aircraft plexiglass windows. Same thing as your wet sanding with 2000 grit except this kit has 1500 grit up to 12000 grit and comes with a polish. Makes plastic look brand new.

I've seen some long-term tests that show that, once yellowed/fogged, they will need to be redone about once a year.
