I don't understand peoples fascination with boxed frames. A properly designed and built c channel frame is plenty strong, my 1 ton dodge and many 18 wheelers use c channel frames. It's mostly just a marketing angle used by some companies.

 

According to the video, 27.13 mpg average with the 3.0L diesel. That's basing it off the 8.7 liters per 100 km statement.

Hi lux is nice as far as features but ugly authentic ly. Also I am not a fan B of diesel regardless of its savings I fuel.

Hiluxs are everywhere over here in Trashganistan. They look pretty weak in person compared to Tacoma, but 27 MPG; I would def consider one. You should see the overseas model Tacoma and Tundra with the chrome roll bars and bull bars.... Ghey... I see a couple up-armored Hiluxs that are bad ass that the secret squirrels roll around in. They have real bead locks, MTR's, and rock a mid travel set up with uni ball UCA's (not sure which brand) and Fox remote resi C/O's, thats pretty bad ass. They are also epuiped with high clearance front and rear bumpers and painted flat tan. I would def rock one of these esp with that 3.0L D4D deisel.

 

Say what you want about the looks of it, but 27mpg is incredible. The questions that I have are these...

How hard would it be for Toyota to put the Hilux's engine and transmission into the Tacoma?

And why haven't they considered this yet?

The diesel engine provides a near 50% increase in fuel economy. This just seems like a no brainer.

I'm pretty sure that's what Diesel Toys does, import Hilux motors and sticks them in your truck for a mere $25k

I think Toyota is waiting for the new truck milage figures that the Government is going to make all trucks meet in the future. All they have to do is make it ( their diesel) meet North American EPA and DOT regs and bingo their in. No new engine, no new r&d, just put their engine in, that they have been holding out on us the whole time.
