Hello I'm from the Toyota MR2 forums. I know what am I doing here...

Well I'm trying to put together a group buy for a GR family compliant dry sump system. I'm going through each of the communities that run the GR block family to see if anyone is interested.

Anyway here is the 1GR oil pan.

Here is the 2GR oil pan
    [IMG]

They are fairly close and if we have it tapped for both the 1grfe and the 2grfe. We can cut costs and its marketable to multiple communities. The 2grfe is not only vary popular swap for the older 90s MR2s, but is also used in the Lotus Evora. From my research the 1GR does vary from tacoma, FJ, and 4runner. So Id need some information from you guys to make this work, as I'm not an expert on the truck side of Toyota.

? Hope that is a good thing ? But mostly looking at this because I'm destroking my 2gr down to 3.1L with a 5GRFE crank for a bore to stroke of 1.40. Im building it for time attack. But if I can help out more people and save money while I'm at it, why not. Ive also found that the Toyota stock oil pump hates high RPMs and starts starving the engine of oil. What makes it worse is I want to turbo my engine, so an already oil deprived engine get worse. One of the reasons Evora guys throw rods quite often. Well at least that's what i hear.

Torspd and justus are two of the major Speed gurus on here, the thing is the 1-GR has 2 different oil pans, a shallow one and a deep one, so you would need to mach the oil reservoir to the deeper pan's capacity, as its needed for the turbo guys. however im also a E-Racer so take that for what its worth, as Tor and justus both have insane motor builds and know more about this than i do, but if it improves the clearance under the truck any some of the more hardcore offroad guys might be interested. Might also try the XRU forums as they are more of the market your looking for.

The dry sump will drain the oil back into the reservoir so if a larger oil capacity is needed then its easy to get the capacity. I'm also wanting a oil/air separator so the oil wont foam up. We could get a 4, 6, and 8qt oil reservoir options.

Who are you looking at to implement this system, A.R.E? The pan you posted looks like its from the newer dual vvti 1gr. Have you also thought about using thicker oil for your turbo system?

Im looking at dailey for the pump system and pan, so we can eliminate a bracket mess with the different engines. Also they have a vary nice air oil separator, that I'm extremely interested in. Yes naturally I'm going to be running heavier weight oil, but its still not safe to have a engine pegging at 12k RPM with a wet sump system. Also the oil will be slung to the back of the pan, well side for me so it will be sucking air. The benefits for you guys would be the allowance of clearance for crawling, naturally for speed, and the engine will always have oil pressure even in the lower RPM range.

With a lot of thought and planning it is accomplishable. Ryan Gates' Evo X is running somewhere in that range.

What is the RPM limit that you/you guys have found for the oil pump, before it starts cavitating? Do you have any pictures of your style oil pump? I might have one of ours, just for comparison.

We normaly see pressue dropping around 7.6k its also the area the rockers start falling off and cracking lifter issues start hitting the motor. The lifters literaly will bounce back up knock the rocker off. Im solving that problem with solid lifters from a gm ecotec. But most of the problems im told is from air in the oil supply and lack of oil pressure. I havent ripped apart the lower end of my 2gr yet since im waiting on my sleeved block to come in. But here is a online pic i found of the oil pump.

Its not much but ill rip apart my 2gr soon and grab pics and dimentions of it.

Also I apologize for spelling or grammar im doing this on my phone at work.

Here are the two upper oil pans from the single VVT-I 1GR. The 4x4 and the shallow. Where as the one you posted, Siman, is as Lucario Runner stated. From the Dual VVT-I 1GR, found in the '10+ FJ and 4Runner.

Just an FYI there are a couple different pans for the 1GR. This is one off of my 4wd. The oil pickup is a little less prone to cavitation than the x-runner style pan IMO.

You'll have to excuse the burnt oil. Previous owner shunned oil changes.
