Hey guys. Got a question. I believe I am in need of new shocks and an alignment. Some times when I go over bumps and I am turning, it feels like my truck slides. Anybody have any insight ? I have an 04 prerunner dbl cab 2wd. I never take it off-road.

I have similar issues. I took it to a mechanic and they told me my lower ball joints needs replacing as well as front and rear shocks.

I'm wondering if it could be ball joints as well. I have 138k on it

Visually inspect it. If they look worn replace them. Have someone get in the truck and turn the wheel slightly left and right, just rocking it back and forth, and look for play. There's other methods you can do yourself too like prying the suspension parts with a crow bar to look for play. If the steering wheel turns bit tires don't even the slightest you probly need replacement parts.

4WD, can you provide mileage when that happened?
I have a pretty low mileage truck, and don't do much off roaring, but would rather replace the shit than deal with what I'm seeing in your picture.

Saw a guy with both of them broken. Took him months to finally get new ones. Mine is starting to sag in the front.

You need to check ALL components you mentioned plus I'd get the front end on jackstands (under frame) pull off tires so you get a good visual while checking especially if you haven't done it before, check your LCA bushings as well, pay particular attention to the rear bushing & replace as necessary, I'd do the lower ball joint first if funds are low, that will keep you from dropping one like i did, imagine being on freeway having this happen...holy shit....

Mileage really has little to do with condition of/or shelf life of parts, in my case I off road a fair amount, I knew mine were worn but put it off too long, & when they go , they just go...boom...

Yea probably Lower Ball Joints. After changing out my LBJs the steering feels alot tighter now. When I turn the steering wheel it doesnt turn back by itself anymore, I have to actually manually turn it with my hands now. My LBJs were shot too

I just replaced my lower ball joints and tie rod ends for like 130 from rock auto, so much more piece of mind not worrying in the back of my head when I'm driving thinking about my ball joint piping out
