I'm 16 and recently got a 2008 access cab tacoma and I was planning on buying a lift and tires + wheels but the problem is that I'm on a budget of about $500 and was wondering which lift to purchase I was thinking off buying the rough country but then read that it's not that good. Now I'm stuck wondering which lift to buy so can anyone help or link me the best lift for around 500 to 600 dollars

save for it. Look at the used coil overs if you are on a tight budget. I've spent close to 1500 on my setup, and it performs as well as some in the 3K range. If you can't wait, Bilstein 5100s with eibachs on sale will put you close to the 650-700 range. OME will run you 1100ish for a middle of the road option.

take some pics of the suspension, we'll tell you what you have. you might be thinking of the stock bilstein HD's

honestly, save your money OP. I bought the cheapest lift I could find (that wasn't spacers) in high school because I didn't want to save up

    then, I broke things
then, I replaced those broken things with things I wanted in the first place, but didn't have enough money for to start with

then I replaced the cheap things with more of what I wanted in the first place

just save up and get what you want later on, don't be like me.

Those are stock shocks. 5100's would be an upgrade. I agree that you should save up for what you really want. I almost went the 5100 route due to impatience. Instead, I just got Icon Stage I all around with their progressive ALL and light racing UCAs. I told the shop to see what kinda lift the AAL gave me in the back and match that up front. Ended up with just over 2" and quite satisfied with it. No issues so far with VSC, vibes, etc. Alignment came out great.

Cooper Discover STT tires 285/70/R17 (33s) Procomp 7032 matte black wheels 17x9 -6 offset. Front lift: Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Shocks set at 0. OME 885x coils. Rear lift: Bilstein 5100 shocks. 1.5 inch 3 leaf progressive. I still have stock UCAs but plan on getting aftermarket ones later. I ordered the shocks and coils from headstrong offroad and the 1.5 inch 3 leaf progressive from Wheelers Offroad. 50" Radius Light bar (From Sidetracked Offroad) Mounts from Relentless Fabrication.
I was stock in the same boat this past month on deciding what 3 inch lift I wanna go with. I was going to do the OME 3 inch lift just because a large majority of people recommended it for quality and price. Well after I was like why should I spend 800-900 dollars on a lift when it's more for looks then off-roading. I turned to the 3 inch procomp lift just because it was rather cheap! I did research on this lift just to see what people had to say about it. I came across many reviews of people not liking it and people not having complaints at all. I had to keep in mind who was writing the reviews though because like you said many people do off-roading. A few people who bought the pro comp for mainly for looks regret getting it because it is a very stiff lift. They recommended that if your gonna buy a lift kit do it right the first time! I took that into consideration and started searching around more. Bilstein was my next step just because it was a highly recommend lift as well. So this is what I put together for myself. Bilstein 5100 Front Adjustable shocks set at 0, Bilstein 5100 rear shocks, OME 885 coils, wheelers 1.5 progressive 3 leaf, and 1/4 spacer for drivers side lean. Many people run this setup and get a good 2.5 to 3 inches. I will also be running 285/70/R17 tires and I've heard minor trimming needs to be done especially since it will be 98% for looks. I'm going to be ordering this setup from Headstrong Offroad who has already has this lift setup put it together. I will leave the link at the bottom to everything! (You have the options on which springs you wanna choose from 884x, 885x, 886x, or ebiach coils). You also have the option for new UCAs which I did not check off because it brought the price up and many people say you don't need them right away. (I will get new ones down the road eventually). I did check off to get it assembled because that's a fairly cheap price and it will need it will need to be done anyways. Total price + shipping to me =$640. For the wheelers 1.5 progressive 3 leaf I paid $170 total. Now you don't have to buy the 3 leaf progressive but 99% of the people recommend that over doing the 2 AAL because of future sagging in the rear. In the HeadStrong Bilstein package they offer the Darkar 2 AAL. I called them and had them take that out so the price went down on the lift package. I know this is lengthy, but I've been stuck in the same boat so I figured I'd give my opinion!

I don't really know anything, and have a lot of research to do, plus a lot of saving up. All I know, is I will want a smooth ride at 3" and will purchase quality stuff to make that happen. All I do know is that I'm unhappy with the comfort level of current setup.

I have Icons up front, All-pro 3 inch leafs with bilstein 7100 in the rear...waiting to relocate them. All I'm saying is with a lot of these adjustable coil overs if you set them to the max height you’ll lose a lot of ride quality. I’m still happy with mine and they’re set just below 2 1/2.
