how and where are you guys mounting your antennas? Ive got a 12' coax so i dont think ill make it to the tail gate, but im thinking on the tool box or the front bumper.
I have a plate bumper up front, would it be as simple as drilling a hole in my bumper and putting a antenna stud in the hole?

    Check the TTORA Garage Section....
What type of antenna you have....I had my Wilson Silver Flex-4 up front for a long long time.
I only recently replaced it with a Wilson 1000, magnet mount and it resides on my tool box.
The SWR is way better now, than it ever was.
Location, grounding, etc is important to ensure low SWR.
Check out this link.... But I would try to mount it on your tool box.

im going to be using far left. But what i gather from that i have to have my mounting bracket grounded, and then i have to have the coax grounded? how do i do that, I know the wire braid inside the coax is the ground but how to i actually ground it. I absolutely hate electronics and have a hard time understanding them sometimes, so am learning as i go with electronics.

Edit: saw the bottom of the stud is grounded also. im assuming that gets is ground from comming in contact with the grounded mount and caused the coax to be grounded. and the top of the stud stays hot because of the plastic washer in between the top stud and the mount. am i on the right track?

Anybody using a folding/collapsible mount for their antenna? Found some floating around the interwebs for about $5-10 each. Seems like a good idea, in case you have to pull into a parking garage or the bank drive-thru.

I haven't set up the CB in my truck yet, but I hope to get it mounted and tuned on my roof rack, which will make things rather heighty, even with a firestick! Just hoping for some reviews on products like this, or an alternative idea.

Interesting. Just know that what you linked is the stud, not the actual mount. The antenna will screw into the stud and then you still need to mount the folding stud on a mount

Yeah, I got that. Just curious if a $5 part will actually be any good, or if anyone has a similar setup. Guess i could just splurge and try it. Worst thing that happens is I'm out $5 + S&H

I had a hard time with this too, one thing to make sure is that the stud is not touching whatever you are mounting it to. I had to put a rubber washer on it to keep them apart
