My new 2014 Tacoma fuel pump sometimes will not shut off when truck is completely off. Its happened 3 times that I have noticed. Has anyone had this happen on a new truck? If I turn the ignition on then off again it will shut off. I did notice that it is also much louder than my 2010 Tacoma when turning the truck off. I am taking it in for service soon just wondering what to expect as I need the truck for work.

Are you sure you're not hearing the smog pump? It starts and runs for a few seconds after turning off the truck.

I don't think that's it. This was still running almost 5 hours after I last drove the truck. I crawled under and and followed the noise to the tank.I cycled the ignition and it stopped.

Sounds like a relay that is sticking on. Have you swapped out the fuel pump relay with another relay to test this out? Just first thing that came to mind.

    ^^Could be this.

Also, was the pump running continuously for 4-5 hours, or did you just happen to notice it running at that point? Reason I ask is, the pump runs after so many hours as a test. It had me worried once too. I went out into the garage and the pump was running. Here it was just a test the system runs on it.

I agree with BamaToy, sounds like the relay is sticking. Like he said swap it out and see if it still does it.

I noticed this on my 13' but forgot to mention it to the dealer last time I was up there. I was out hunting and when I came back to my truck in the afternoon I could hear the fuel pump running, the truck had been off for over 5 hours.

^emissions pump starts up every 4 hours and sucks vapors then shuts down, even if you don't drive it for days

all new tacos have this system

edit: 5 hours or something, it's in the manual. ghosts in the machine for emissions control

Yeah, the emissions pump will run a diagnostic test after the truck sits for a while. Hard to tell from the OPs video clip if that is for sure the fuel pump, or it it is the emissions air pump.
