Man, you have me pegged right up to the last part. But the rest is on the money. Small family in need of long bed for its usefullness. One of those uses is getting off the grid with the wife and kid.

At any rate, you're call was money.

What's with all the people that think you can't wheel a long bed? There's obviously a market for it, so why not at least offer it. If people don't want or need it, they don't have to pay for it, but if you do want it, it should be offered.

And turning radius would have nothing to do with a locker.

Toyota should have just offered the locker as an option in the DCLB Sport , then they would have covered all their bases

Of course the turning radius has nothing to do with a locker. I just imagine that it could be a bigger deal than high centering as referred to earlier. Really, you need an empty Cosco parking lot to make a u-turn.

If your bed was a foot or so shorter, you could get off that dirt road :D

Seriously a great looking rig. Do you have an aftermarket diff locker? Did you do the yellow wire mod?

Not my truck. He has all kinds of good stuff on it though, including an ARB rear locker.

On the topic of sport vs offroad, I think toyota should put atrac on the sport, its probably not too much more to add another computer part on it.

Nothing to do w/ parts. It's about marketing, demographic, and public perception. Their marketing either shows a low interest in an ORLB or they are trying to put out a perception that I could only guess at. Either way, it wasn't an oversight. Trust me, options/add ons are where ALL the profit is when selling a NEW vehicle.

And it's not about how trail ready it is, it's about not getting stuck. And lockers are VERY useful in that aspect. They're extremely useful at getting unstuck or mostly not stuck to begin with.

My need for one is very limited, yet I'm considering spending at least $1500 to get one for possibly one or two situations that MIGHT happen. I'd prefer to pay Toyota for theirs and their warranty. I do think the ARB is a better product though.

love my locker.... had my truck for 6ish months now... used the locker MANY times, mostly for 2wd shenanigans, but quite a few times to get through a full flex one rear tire in the air cross of some crevass that would have been quite a bitch in 4wd.

There was one time, where i was able to essentially crawl up this off camber full flex situation in 2wd rear locked with minimal tire spin... where in 4hi or low (even with atrac) without locked resulted in the need for way to much speed to get up the obstacle.
