I just bought an 05 tacoma last night and was thinking of painting the stock rims black and putting a bigger tire on. I don't want any trimming done and wouldn't want them to rub; also I can't afford a lift just yet. Does anyone know if I can fit a 31in tire on or what would be the biggest tire I can fit? And if anyone has pictures I'd like to see them. Thanks!

265/75/r16. No rubbing at all, wish I would have gone with 65's for a little wider tire but not sure if it would rub at all. No lift at all

Thanks ^ Looks awesome! I'll look into those and also 265/65/16 maybe wheel spacers with the 65's would prevent rubbing?

Wheel spacers make it worse from what Ive heard. It makes it rub on the outter body plastic at the bottom corners is what I was told, but also wheel spacers destroy your wheel bearings, so up to you on that one. I am either going to powder coat the wheels black or use plasti dip, not sure yet.

I think Brian mispoke. The only way your getting wider is a larger first series of numbers.

265/75/16 = 265mm wide tire, 75% of 265 equals the sidewall height and 16" is the wheel diameter.

a wider tire would be a 275 and so forth
in theory a taller tire would be 275/80/16

Oh okay that does make sense now. I have always been a little confused on how tire sizes are related to the numbers we say.. Thanks for correcting me!
