Recently I have had a few people ask me about the SpinTech muffler I am running and it seems like no one else is. So I decided I might as well make a thread about it so people check it out here :D

I have a 2005 Black DCSB Prerunner V6 4.0L. Almost a year ago I swapped the stock muffler out with the SpinTech Super Pro Street 9000 muffler for a much more aggressive sound. I originally saw a video on YouTube of the muffler on a F150 and loved it. I hadn't seen anyone with this muffler on a Tacoma and thought I would try it out. The Super Pro Street 9000 is the most aggressive muffler SpinTech produces in that series. Although its very aggressive, when idle and at highway speeds its not that loud which IMO is nice and not annoying on long trips (considering I have to drive 860 miles to college). I love the muffler and I'm not planning on switching anytime soon. I have made a couple videos and am trying to make some more.

    Muffler Information:
SpinTech Super Pro Street 9000 ($84.95)
    Inlet: 2 1/4" centered
    Outlet: 2 1/4" centered
    Product Code: 9221
Options: Aluminized Steel, Stainless Steel (+$65), Polished Stainless Steel (+$80)
    Link: http://www.spintechmufflers.com/muf...0/super-pro-street-muffler-9221/prod_123.html

Here are some videos of the muffler. They don't do it justice and sounds better in person.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFSK_ZalZgs

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUVCS9I3RIA

I will try to make some more videos and upload them here. I swapped the muffler out myself and most of you I believe know how to. The process is simple and took me about 20 minutes. I attached a PDF that I drew up to help someone who doesn't know how but wants to DIY. In order to do this you will need to buy extra piping but not much and is shown in the PDF. I would recommend getting it professionally done at a shop but if you want to DIY go right ahead! :D Below is a picture of mine! Not the prettiest, I know lol.

Mine is the 2nd most aggressive.. Don't know the model. I love it! Where I'm from everyone is running flowmaster so I had to go with something else..

Sounds pretty good, and I'm not a fan of noisy mufflers.

Thanks for posting the vid. I've never heard of them. Spintech has a truly unique muffler design... :)

Yeah I know its pretty simple :) I hadn't heard of them either but I figured I'd give it a try and I love it! It is a simple design and I found this video that tries to explain how it works ;)

Yes I do! I love the sound and have had it for about a year. If you want something different than most people, I'd go spintech.

Good sounding muffler. I personally like my truck to be quite but if I were in the market I would give that one some serious consideration. Thanks for the videos.

I was just looking under my tuck, and was wondering how you hooked your pipes to the hooks to hold the exhaust up? Since the muffler has 2 attachment point... and I will be cutting it out..

Sorry bud! I forgot to mention that in this post and will add that! I cut the one in front of the muffler off and left the one towards the rear on and thats all I have hooked up. I didn't reconnect it to the first hook and I haven't had a problem at all and it doesn't move or shake around at all. I have thought about doing something simple like this though:

    http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...3_458&mn=Dynomax(R)&mc=DMX&pt=02414&ppt=C0022

I don't know if it would line up or not. I might give it a try to give it more support where the first hanger was.

    This is another option:

    http://www.amazon.com/Walker-36272-Exhaust-Hanger/dp/B001AX65QO

I have seen some in the local auto parts stores. Long story short. I have been using one hanger (the one closer to the rear near the tail pipe) since it was installed a year ago and I haven't had a single problem. If you want to, I would just go to an auto parts store and find a universal one  I can look tomorrow evening and take some measurements to see exactly what length you would need.

IMHO the drone minimal at highway speeds. This sucks because its so subjective but I will try to give you an idea. Also, I have never been in a tacoma with the magna flow exhaust so it is hard for me to compare! :)

There is a drone in the 40-55 range give or take a few and obviously when you accelerate it will be louder in the cab. Highway speeds on the other hand, the drone is very minimal.

I went on the freeway and set cruise control at 65 mph so it would be a constant rate. I had nothing turned on, no A/C or radio and the sound from driving on the freeway is louder than the drone if that tells you something. Went up to 75 mph and the same thing, very minimal drone. It seems the higher the speed the less drone.

So throw in A/C and possibly the radio at an average volume and I would say you wouldn't even notice the drone. You could easily hold a conversion without having to yell at each other. Like I said in the first post, I drive just over 800 miles on the interstate to and from college multiple times a year and it doesn't bother me a bit.

I might be able to scratch up a video inside the cab if you'd like :D
