Spend maybe $15 at Wally World for aftermarket or close to $200 oem. Strip the wires and put spade connectors on them. I diagramed mine before taking a part. Used the diagram on cover and matched the wire colors to it. OEM comes with harness back to the plug on frame. This is part of reason for expense. Also, I put hitch in when I am off road. No more broken plugs. Hitch will protect it.

Male or female spades? What did you end up mounting it to? Did you just remove the plastic and just used the wires to spades to trailer?

I bought an aftermarket plug that has the 7 round and 4 flat in the same plug. I located it in the hole that the driver side license plate is. Just unscrew the light and push it back through the hole and zip tie it under the truck.
Then wire up the new plug, drill a hole or 2 to mount the new plug and good to go.

Busted CV boots and lots of squeaks.
Any auto parts store will have one. Do yourself a favor and relocate it into the bumper. Here is one option

Female spades, I mounted in same location. I ran through same areas where I tore original off with hitch ball in and never had a problem.

    Just an update.

I ended up purchasing a Hopkins #48480 for $14.xx at Walmart. The same connector was $24 at Autozone and $25 at o'reilly auto parts.

I had to rewire the 7 pins into the new connector.

I priced the harness without the mounting plate from Toyota and it was $238. Not even worth mentioning.

I just need to figure out how to mount it. Either in the bumper like the others have shown or similar to Ziggynagy.

Unscrew the passenger license plate light and zip tie the light under the truck so it's out of the way. Then mount the plug in that hole. No need to drill a large hole and you still have the other license plate light. It worked great on my stock bumper and the same plug matched up perfectly to the holes CBI drilled for the Hopkins plug on my plate bumper.

Sounds like you already got it covered and figured out. Toyota does not sell the plug alone its a total harnes replacement. I got mine for $200 shipped from TRDparts4U, I would have went with an aftermarket but insurance was paying so I didnt really care lol

Yeah, I understand why too. That plug connector does not come apart. It's solid plastic all the way to the wires.

Tex, tell me more about the 2 in one plug. What is the model number and or who is the manufacturer? Sounds like exactly what I need!

-1 on leaving the hitch in. Destroyed #2 yesterday in addition to getting some new desert pin-striping out near the Verde river - nothing is safe hanging down like that here in AZ! I'm gonna mount it in the bumper and be done with it.

Will a standard 7 pin from Wally world pop into the existing light hole, or will I have to re-size the hole? If so, I might as well just drill a new one and keep both license plate lights in place.

it depends on the hitch. When I am at the ranch I leave in a 3-1/2" drop that use with my utility trailer. The hitch I use for my boat trailer would offer no protection.
