2.7l 5/spd here. Have been having this weird problem with my reverse cam since I've gotten my truck. It's never really bothered me that much, because I don't use it a whole lot, but yesterday I could've definitely enjoyed it backing down an ATV trail after I found out the hard way it's a dead end due to trees being down.

Anyway, seems the problem is once my truck has been running for 20+ minutes or so my camera won't engage anymore. Tried turning the truck on and off again, tried going through the gears, and making sure it's as far into reverse as it will go, but to no avail. I even tried turning it on and off on the mirror, but still no luck.

Anyone else experiencing this? Doesn't seem like a wiring issue, because when she's cold there's no issues at all...

Heat maybe? A lot of electronics have fail safes that turn them off if they get too hot, and it not being a problem in the winter would support that.

I could see that. One of these days I'll have to trace out the wiring and see if I can figure something out. Should've taken it back to the dealer when I was still warrantied.

Reverse lights work? Maybe a bad reverse switch in the trans that fails when the trans is hot.

sounds like poor solder connection that gets warm then dies....

look up the mirror cam fix here, and pull mirror and resolder things...

I've heard that powerful electronics in the area can cause interference.
Is it staying off or coming on partially?
It could be as simple as a corroded connection.
You'd have to trace all wiring and give it a shot of some sort of terminal cleaner at connection points.

    Just a thought.

mine works everywhere all the time even at power grid substations or microwave antennas

I am betting OP needs to open up mirror and resolder the bits

I have had CB radios and such come through the FM radio.
Vibrations can cause loose connections like you say all of this is to be considered.

There is a connector behind the change drawer in the dash that controls that. As soon as you go in reverse there is a signal to either the mirror or the radio that turns the camera ON. It should happen as soon as the reverse lights come on. As one dealer told me "we have lots of problems with those Entune radios".... that's what I would expect if its in the radio.

Thanks for all the replies, folks. Looks like my next project is to pull open that mirror and do some soldering. I'll post up the results.
