What ton jack stand to use for 2nd Gen Tacoma. 3 ton or 6 ton

so I bought 6 ton jack stands today but I have a pair of 3 ton jack stand which I use for my minivan and car.
Would a 3 ton jack stand work on tacoma?

 

It's over kill but I like the stability of the wider stands. I go with bigger than 3 ton.

 

I'm with Jamie on this one. I like my 6 ton stands due to size and stability.

 

If they'll lift it up high enough, they're fine.

 

I'm sure the 3 ton would work fine but I like the extra length my 6 ton pair give.

 

ya those 3 ton works really well for the mini van and car but I think the 6 ton would make more comfortable. Where underneath the truck should I put the jackstand? anywhere on the frame?

 

Come to think of it when I used a set of 3 ton stands last I had to crib them up to reach the frame. My truck is lifted though.

 

3 ton will support the truck with ease, I've done it. The length of the 6 tons is easier though. With the 3 tons it was hard to get enough height out of them.

 

Why you jackin' up your truck?

 

Nicely put. That's the main reason I went with 6 ton jack stands. I mean you can put wood blocks with the 3 ton jacks but 6 ton jacks are more designed for that extra length you would need for a stock truck or lifted one.

Just remember they're rated in pairs. so "3 ton" jackstands are rated as a pair to hold an axle weight of 3 tons.

But like everyone else - I find it's both more comfortable and more convenient to rest my truck on 6 ton stands while I'm working underneath.
