I noticed a small hole in my right side frame just above rear tire in november it was dime sized. I took it back to the dealer and the mechanic sprayed it down with their undercoating in a can that was in december 2013. This truck was recalled and treated in 2012 for rust. today after noticing the hole growing exponentially over a few months I decided to take the bed off and lightly power wash and take pics. draw whatever conclusion you like but in my opinion the undercoating they spray on these vehicles is useless. I did contact toyota and even escalated the issue to corporate and the conclusion was " sorry sir we only guarantee our frames for 15 years". Thats fine and I will accept that and try and repair what I can, but for my fellow members don't think that your truck is OK after having undercoating sprayed on your truck. pics posted. good luck

Don't laugh san Diegan, I've seen rust piles down by the beach area that rivals anything back east salt roads can dish up...

I think the OP gets that Gabe , think its more of a warning to others in his situation

& yeah even tho' I live in a pretty much rust free environment I always cleaned & undercoated my frame & underside with a good ,heavy undercoating with lots of anti rust/anti moisture chunks of shit in it, just made it a yearly thing with other 4x's in the past... best way to make sure is dont skimp on the undercoat & do it yourself, that way you KNOW its covered up right...

Your frame looks like it was a pile before they coated it. It should have been bought back. Bad prep is my thought for why it looks like it does though. The product itself is good, but it needs a good base to stick to.

Marine environments are just plain bad for ferrous metal. Double the trouble when you live near the ocean and the local DOT salts.
