First, I have to say thanks to all those who developed and demonstrated the means to adapt the 86190-0C020 using altered cords and dremel-cut ports. I tried it, got frustrated, got it to work, tried to make it better, then looked for an easier way. In Japan, I found a device already made; and we installed one in our 83 Land Cruiser and planned another for our 07 Tacoma. Works perfectly, and was a neat installation even in an old truck.

If you're about to undertake this adventure, consider the easy way. The cost works out to be about the same but with many fewer headaches. I'll get a couple more next time I'm in Japan.

Wow what a great find. I already did the mod on mine, but may get one of those anyways just for the extra connector on the aux port. The factory only has three, two plus tip, which means it wont send a video signal with the iphone connector for my radio. If I ever make the switch from android, this would be a huge deal.

Im not sure if anyone has already said this, but they now have a connector for this. It only costs $15 on crutchfield and it is really easy I just installed it on my radio.

    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-HM7vzL...a-AX-TOYUSB-2-Cable-for-Toyota-and-Lexus.html

as long as your radio has a rear usb output, you plug this in there and then run it over to behind the glovebox where there is a plug on the far right side of the car. The color is the same brown as the adaptor. Just unplug it and plug it into the adaptor and the USB works with the new radio.

It does NOT keep the Aux input, but I cant remember the last time I just that anyways.

I did mention that a while back. And the aux is used for video on Pioneer iPod connection when using their advanced app mode. It uses the USB for data, so you need both.

I'm sure there are other manufacturers out there with similar setups.

That being said it requires 4 conductors on the aux, and the factory jack only has three. So you can't use that anyways.

    Awesome write up!

Got the aux audio working. Can only get USB working if I hold the connector in place just so. Bending the pins doesn't help as the USB plug needs some kind of support behind it to push it up. If I wedge a flat head in behind it it's just fine.

I wish we could just get the stock Toyota wiring harness that goes to their USB aux jack.

I imagine I couldn't just buy this one plug, I'd have to have order the entire interior wiring harness from a Tundra to do this?

Yes, on the stock HU you need the AUX port wire to detect power/ something in there. Blue cable.

Did you ever get the stock Pinout?

Did the install this past weekend on my '05, wound up having to use USB extension cable, not usb A to A. The cables I purchased actually had raised pins already so no need to mess with them at all.

The only thing I had to do was trim the sides, cut off the metal and to be safe removed a little of the very end on the connector to ensure a good connection.

I installed two ports to support to dual USB ports on my Kenwood HU. I did not mess with the AUX ports at all.

Ok, been doing a lot of searching recently. Not sure if it's been answered or a part number discovered, but here I go.

I have a 2010 Tacoma, but will be putting in a 2013 radio. The new tacomas have this USB hook-up on the dash, so I assume there must be a cable that runs from the back of the radio to the plug on the USB/Aux dash mount. Anyone have a part number for that wire?

I just installed an aftermarket head unit in my 2011, and I thought I would post up a less expensive alternative I found on eBay. Here's a link:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/171259515443?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

In case the link changes, the seller's name is "California Supplier", and the listing is titled "Flush Mount USB Aux 3.5mm Headphone Jack Mounting Panel Dashboar Dock Input Lead". I paid $18.94 with free shipping.

    Here are a few photos:

    AuxJack3_710fdc36d9ff0d4bc2db68fe3a0d7c04a3de89c0.jpg

As you can see, it is almost a perfect fit. I say almost, because the factory unit has clips that hold it in place in the dash, and this unit does not. I'm not sure what the best solution to this is, but I used some thin double-sided tape (placed where the clips are on the factory unit), which seems to hold it in place just fine.

The unit has a male USB end and a male 3.5mm end, and the wires are just about 30" long. Other than needing a female-to-female 3.5mm connector, this connected directly to my aftermarket head unit and works just as you would expect.

Thanks a bunch for this. Worked perfectly on my 2011 to replace my separate modified aux connector and makeshift USB connector.

So this looks like the ticket for those of us with a stock head unit. I plan to wire this to the Vais Technology MML unit (It will plug inline with my Vais Tech Sirius unit).

Has anyone figured out how to use the Crutchfield adapter and get keep the functionality of the Auxiliary port? Can you just re-use the stock wiring harness behind the dash for the Auxiliary port, and the Crutchfield harness for the USB? FYI...the IPod will show up as another CD changer when connected through the Vais Tech MML and the stock head unit. Thanks guys!

    Matt
