Point I was making is that diesel / electrics are making their way to the passenger vehicle / light truck class

Okay, and my point is that just like electronic fuel injection, direct port injection, variable valve timing, anti-lock brakes, blind spot monitoring, rear view camera's, adaptive cruise control.... etc it'll be a long time before that expensive technology makes it's way down to the vehicles priced under 50 K, like the Toyota Tacoma.

Maybe on the GMC Denali or Ford King Ranch trucks, they love to charge 20 K more for random options no one cares about. I swear they could sell those trucks just with the badges and people would still buy them. Sorry to stray off topic!

Yeah i agree, at least bump it up to a 3/4 ton and maybe a year or 2 later 1ton.

If i needed to tow 3/4 of what the tundra is rated for now i’d probably just get a diesel. now that the tundra will have IMHO one of the best diesels it can i’d get the diesel. they just do a lot better with heavy towing.(and imho the taco dose not do heavy towing. heavy in my mind is 8-10k+)

also i think some that want a diesel in the taco want it for better MPG and towing. well it’s not going to increase towing unless they do better/bigger brakes, suspension and beaf up the frame, A LOT has to go into making the taco tow and haul more. and as well all should know the taco has a hard time hauling close to 1k in the bed like it’s rated for because of the weak leaf springs.

this is true. but it maybe just be me on this. but i don’t really want a diesel electric. i’d like a full diesel. I would also probably NOT get a diesel taco, but may think about one. if i’m getting a diesel it’s 95% chance it’s for towing big stuff not just MPG like everyone wants.

I also kinda wish some electric stuff was not in the trucks/cars these days, like all these traction control BS only thing thats OK is ABS and i wish it had a switch(factory) to turn it off when needed.

with them already putting one in the 2016 tundra, i’d bet on them using one for the taco. i think the frontier is getting one in 2016 maybe 2017. the titian is getting one in 2015.

with toyota already having a deal with cummins for the tundra, i’d bet they will use a smaller cummins for the taco, maybe they will put one in the 4 runner as well.

wont be for the tundra since they already have a deal with cummins to put one in the 2016 tundra.
