Hi folks. Just to share, and if you can give me your advice will be welcome.

On December 3th, I ordered a complete suspension kit from WheelesOffroad, that was:
    FRONT END:
    ICON Coilover 58735 Remote Reservoir
    Total Chaos Upper Control Arm

    REAR END:
The unfamous Daever's J66 leaf pack
Bilstein 5160 Remote Reservoir Rear Shock Set

After installation was complete in a local repair shop, by professionals I noticed the rear end was extremely too soft. Any bump, hole, or whatever was on the street, the bumpstop hits harder the frame. I recorder a video to see what was going on... and yes... the leafs was so soft that they bend just on a normal ride. I contact the dealer, they told me that I have to ask warranty to Deaver, or suggested me to buy their superbumpstops, trimbers, AAL, or air bags. I contact Deaver, they told me that it is normal those leafs and are designed to work like that :eek::eek:!!!. They also suggested me to sell them and but another leaf pack from them!!! Of course I will not send something that doesn't work!!!!.

OK, So I kept my truck just for the city... I cant offroad with, or take high speeds because of the hard hit of the bump stop, camping or use it as a truck. But today was my limit... One of the rear bilstein 5160 shocks blown up!...just driving from work to home, at streets with speed limit of 45mph. I was upset/pissed off as you have no idea.

Here is the video that I shoot after installation:
Check put at 1:11 and 1:40

Here is the shock blown... looks like it is bleeding from the hose.

Here are another pictures from the installation.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND ME TO DO?

If for somewhat Bilstein's warranty do not proceed, I have to buy new shocks... I was thinking on Icon's. How are they in the rear? I have them in the front and I love them. Or Billies again? or EMU???

I know that I also need another leaf pack... Which one do you recommend me? I dont wanna deaver's. Any model. I really hate that brand.

What I will use my truck for? I like to drive at high speeds on dirty roads, and camping, I do use a trailer sometimes, sometimes haul a boat, and sometimes just coolers and fishing gear.

    thanks!

Maybe the shocks themselves are valved softer then what they should be at. Valving makes a huge difference

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
This ^ it looks like a shock valving problem from the video.

Well.. yeah, double cabs have much more weight. But if that is the reason, they should avoid people of installing them on double cabs! As Old EMU and Toytec does.

Seems legit! When I put the order, I told them what activities gonna do with my truck every weekend: offroading, camping, hauling, etc. but also I would like a comfortably ride... Maybe that's the misunderstood...

OK, so I need a new shocks... what do you recommend me for those activities? Also airbags? or do I not need them at all?

I think an extended bump stop may have saved the shock from bottoming out. If that's what caused the shock to blow.

Search for a post by 4WD (Doug or Old Man Doug). When I was researching for leaf springs I saw his post about how soft the Deaver leafs are. It basically shows that with any weight they sag. I've read that desert racing prerunners/ long travel guys like the deavers

i hate that video, the people in that video are dumb. these are soft springs for the long travel folk. they are really only good for people going fast in the desert.

which any searching of them would have shown.

Yeah skip the deavers all together. What really stuns me is deaver's HORRIBLE customer service, and yet people keep going back. Get some standard springs from allpro and you'll be set.

yeah you are using the wrong shock. Deaver J66 are meant to work with Icon shocks.

I've known several people who have had problems with their springs, they call deaver, and deaver basically says they're on their own. They don't stand behind their product at all.

As for throwing shocks at these springs. You can put a new, better valved shock on them, but your payload capacity will still not be there. You put 2-300lbs in the bed and you're going to be riding on the bumps, regardless of bilstein, icon, fox, or king shocks.

Small shops usually don't have the manpower or time to fix peoples issues 24/7, especially ones their customer bring on themselves by being ignorant.

A little research on OP's part could of avoided all of this.

This has nothing to do with Deaver and the title is a joke at best.

Guy doesn't do any research, just clicks and orders, then comes here crying about it. I'm all for calling out vendors who lie and provide shit products but this is BS.

I'm with you on most of this. The only argument I have about that though is that if the product being offered has a known track record for being crappy then why do vendors continue to sell it?
