Having some shake in the steering wheel while braking. Not so much from braking from 75 mph but more from 55 mph down to 35 mph. The front brakes had new pads and rotors turned 18000 miles ago. Vibration showed up about 8000 miles ago. 118000 on truck. Any ideas !!

Had them balanced a little while after it first started . helped a little but has gotten worse. Also this is a double cab. So it has 2 drive shafts connected to each other. Where the come together its pretty loose. I can move the joint around easily at this spot. Should it be tight?

That's about how mine is. I crawled under a friends new trd off road today and it was really tight. I have no clunks though. How many miles on yours?

It is not uncommon for a rotor to get hot and warp. It can happen simply by driving through some water when the rotor is hot from braking. You said it has been 18k miles since the work has been done, so I seriously doubt that it has anything to do with workmanship. If that were the case the issue would have started long ago. When rotors are machined, they become slightly thinner, which does make them more susceptible to warping again. What you might want to do is take it to the dealership and ask them to look it over, mentioning that you are concerned that the brakes are starting to pulsate again and if they could take a look at it. Most dealerships offer free brake inspections.

 18k miles ago was when the work was done goofy! lmao Wouldn't be the dealer's fault.

They could possibly be warped. If so should I go with new dealer rotors or some aftermarket ones and I guess some new pads now also.?

If I owned the truck I would get aftermarket ceramic pads, and a good OEM equivalent aftermarket rotor. RockAuto.com has some good rotors.

I bought some EBC brake rotors and yellow pads, have the same issue, can't seem to find a solution to my problem, my issue started about 8k miles after install, autoanything told me that they were past the warranty, very very upset. If in case I find a solution to my problem, I'll post it hopefully it helps in your situation.

Mainly I was just bein silly with you, hence the smily. But while he does say in post #9 he "just got them done" He also said in post #1 that it was done 18k miles ago. Someone stating they just got them done I have learned could be anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. lol. I had a customer come in who was low on oil. I asked when did he get the oil changed last. He said he just got it done. Come to find out that was 5 months and 6k miles ago! lol. I like to go with the solid number of 18k miles. That is much more specific.

Lol. Sorry about the confusion on my choice of words. I am a UPS driver, 18k miles to me is probably like 1800 to someone else. And when I am not at work racking up miles in the brown truck I am racking them up in the TRD. I took the truck to the dealer to have the breaks done as a preventative measure so I might avoid a breakdown on the road. I own some land in west Tx. It's about 500 miles one way. I frequently pull a trailer with a heavy load out there. Having the brakes fail going down a big a$$ hill at night in the middle of nowhere is not a fun thought. My next trip out there is Labor Day weekend. I need to figure this problem out before then.

New at this. My four door, 55,000 miles, 2011 Tacoma shakes real bad when applying the breaks at high speeds, at lower speeds it does not shake, any suggestions? Would that be that the hot rotor getting wet as someone suggested? Is this a typical thing on Tacomas?

In the process now of getting some new tires and front end alinement. I am also going to change out the u-joints. The vibrations have now shown up in acceleration from 20 mph to 30. Not sure what's going with this truck.

    Update on the shake.

I decided to wait on new tires rt now.
Took the truck in and had the carrier bearing replaced along with the u- joint there. As I knew that it was in pretty bad shape.
This repair has fixed / gotten rid of 99% of the shake or vibration i was experiencing while braking.

Feeling a lot better about my truck now.
