When you live in Nova Scotia and you dont undercoat your truck this is what happens.... When I looked at it orignially it didn't seem as bad as it is, I guess I was just excited to get a truck and wasn't willing to wait.. I've only owned the truck for 2 months. Atleast it will give me something to do I guess

Body mount is a little rusty... In the process of cleaning it up.

Cleaned up the crossmember and painted it. Atleast it looks pretty compared to the rest of it.

Skidplate was awful. I took it off and cleaned all the rust off and beadlinered it.. But it ended up just looking like rust bubbles.

Can anyone tell me what kind of shock this is from the picture? its a Bilnstein.. Its not a TRD Tacoma, just has the shock.

    Getting there...
If you bought it used, somebody might have swapped the SR5 shocks with TRD ones? Or 4600s?

For being up in Canada, that frame looks really good! You should see the frames people have down here in one of the many rusty frame threads.
And for the shocks, someone most likely just bought replacement Bilsteins.

If you want to look for the so-called "bad area", take a gander at the inside of the frame rail in the boxed section by the driver's side catalytic converter.

Found at your average parts store? I was planning on getting it undercoated once I finish cleaning it up. I'm planning on taking the box and cab off at some point next month.

Your rust looks about as extensive as mine... At least you caught it while it was still surface rust. I'm not going to go with the bedliner on mine though because I'm worried about the rust spreading underneath where I can't see. Insteas I'm just going to take it in for the oil undercoating yearly and keep an eye on the underside.

I'm painting the frame. I just bedlinered the skidplate. Krown or RustCheck is your best bet. I'm going to do that too, in NS you have to.

The frames rust on the inside out. The salty water from the rods gets into those holes and stays inside the frame and eats it.
Gotta admit, this is one reason I like AZ. No rust... Just burnt paint.

The air is so dry there, although there are way too many scary creatures there for me... and yeah, but if i spend some time cleaning up the outside frame rail I feel less embarrassed about it :D

I only use Fluid Film twice a year here in Cape Breton. 2014 - no rust.
