OME Lift and bags

I have the OME 3" lift with Dakars. I went to install a set of Firestone Ride-Rites for help pulling my trailer. My question is it there different ones for stock height vs lifted? The 4x4 shop I deal with know I have a lift, and when i went to install the ones they got me, there was no way the bag would bolt to the spring with axle all the way down it was still about 3" shy of the spring. So do i need a different kit, or use the Daystar cradle?

 

I'd use the Daystar cradle but I have to ask, what are you towing that the Dakars aren't handling? The Tacoma doesn't have that high of a payload to where you'd be overloading the Dakar springs.

 

I do have a HC bruteForce bumper with spare tire and jerry can holder, then when pulling my 81, and bed with my custome slide out tool box full of camping gear, weighs it down

 

Damn, nice setup! Basically, with airbags and a 3 inch lift, your options are build a custom spacer for the air bags or the Daystar cradle. I'd go with the cradle if it were me since the other option would limit uptravel.

I made a custom spacer out of 1 1/4" square iron tubing. Works great! I do quite a bit of nasty forestry roads with a good load (1000 lbs in bed) but no wheeling per say. I have about 19K miles on my setup without any problems.

 

Yup looks like cradles or fab up a taller bottom plate

 

I use the day star cradles with my dakars. Works great and bag is not tied down during articulation.

 

What do you have lifting the rear? I'm hoping to do this with a Toytec 2" add a leaf as part of the BME 2" lift with top plate spacers in the front. My question is, do I have to install a 2" spacer, or will 1 1/4" do the job?

You probably don't need more than 1 1/4", not even sure if you need spacers for 2" of lift. When I took that pic, I had the Dakar leaf pack giving about 3" of lift. I have since added another leaf (

$81 D29XL Leaf Spring

D29XL) , now I'm probably closer to 3.75" and haven't had any problems with the bags. I believe Firestone have spacers for lifted trucks, you could probably give them a call to see what they say for your situation.

 

Thanks for the help, with your answer and a couple more google searches I did find that Firestone has spacers available from 2 to at least 6 inches. The part number for the 2 inch spacer is Firestone 2366. Although a bit pricey for what it is I think this will be the solution for the non-fabrication savvy tacoma owner such as myself.
