What is hanging off my Transfer Case?

2003 Double Cab 4x4 SR5 TRD automatic. This is not shown on any part diagrams or in the FSM that I can find. Is it just a counterbalance / dampening piece for vibrations?

 

Yeah you would be correct, It is called a Dynamic Dampener.

That would be your "It's gonna break dampener",,cause they couldn't figure out the vibration problem. Bolt on band aid.

Yank it off of there and report back. Or would removing that void the Wguarantee??. hmmm.

 

I'm glad some one asked that, because I was going to do the same. I thought it was some sort of strange device to protect the t case. Looks nothing like a dampener....

 

So that's where the chick magnet is. I don't have one.

 

Not all of our trucks have that? Mine does... Wondered wtf it was.

Interesting, but mine doesn't have it. Must be an 01-04 thing.

BTW, what is that thing in the upper left of the photo, behind the TC ? I don't have that either.

 

I believe it's more of a double cab thing as well, upper upper left corner is a fuel filter ,
The half black box looking thing that is attached to the transfer case is the actuator for the push button 4x4.

Not a double cab or '01-'04 thing. I have a spare transfer case with one I pulled from an early '90s 4Runner.
