Bumpstop Length??

    So im thinking of getting all pro standards and im also confused as to what shocks will work and what bumps i will need. I was looking at b110 but allpro said they wont work? i thought i saw someone running those.

    Sounds good, but I have no idea what the collapse length is of the shocks you have nor what the bumps measure when compressed. Some of those poly bumps can squeeze down a lot more then you think.

    Collapse the suspension on one side without the shocks and be sure to smash those bumps, providing the collapse length of the shock measures shorter than the distance from the bottom to the top shock mount you're good.

    Not saying the original method above won't help you decide on bump length, but merely stating its very important to consider the collapse length of the shock. There are a lot of people who don't consider this and use their extended length shocks as bumps, not intentionally of course :eek:

    Thats incorrect, they will work you just need longer bumps since the collapse length is 16.34"

    Keep in mind guys, the factory replacement 5100s (they work with factory bumps) measure 14" collapsed (2.34" shorter than the extended length 5100) and the factory bump is 3" tall. Now depending on the thickness of the leaf pack over the factory one some of this difference (2.34") will be absorbed; this is because the top of the packs sit higher off the axle thus bumping sooner. Keeping this info in mind this can help you with your bump height selection, simply absorb the difference (i.e. packs are 1" thicker so this leaves roughly 1.34" and therefore a bump of the same rubber material measuring 4.5" should be suitable to prevent complete collapse of shock).

    Not to add more confusion to this, but Toyota was conservative on their bump selection to ensure their shocks would not collapse all the way regardless of how hard those stupid rubber bumps smash down (they almost don't at all).

    Anyhow I'm probably making this more confusing than it needs to be so I'm checking out :p

    Thats what I was thinking, thanks for doing the measurements for me too!:D ill do some bumpstop searching now. Whats a bump thats around 4.5in that wont squish down?

    got my bumpstops and shims in today, im happy...I ordered both 2 days ago and both of them arrived today. I was expecting the fedex package not to get here until tomorrow. Lookin forward to installing all of this :D

    definitely not as big as I thought they were going to be

    Will these compress or are they pretty solid like stock? I would get these seem perfect

    I have a few mods
    I can actually compress it a little bit with just my hands, I believe they are made to have a higher spring rate than the factory bumps. So it should have a smoother ride if i am understanding it correctly when the bumpstops are hit

    are u both running B110s?

    can you take a pic of your rear shocks and bump stops?

    I'm planning OME dakar with B110s and these same bump stops.

    hey sorry for the extremely late reply, just noticed this thread had replies to it I havent looked at, im not running B110s, im running Fox 2.0 Remote Resis with All pro standard leaf springs

    not off the top of my head no, but i dont have any issues with them and compressing or preventing flex

    An easy method to get a good estimate as to how much the bumps will compress is to place one of the bumps on the jack plate of a floor jack and use the weight of your truck to compress it. Whatever it measures compressed subtract about 1/2" more to be on the safe side. Oh and because these particular bumps have a bolt at the bottom, just grab a piece of 2x4 or thicker and drill a hole for the bolt to go through so the bottom of the bump will be flat when placed on the jack plate.

    Measure what the distance is from the top of the frame (The strike area that is riveted on) to the all pro u bolt flip kit plate. Record that measurement on a piece of paper. Next, measure how much available shaft travel you have at ride height, record that too. Next, subtract the frame measurement from the remaining shaft travel measurement (Ex. 7 inches frame strike spacing - 5 inches available shaft travel = 2 inches of spacing required)

    The final sum of the subtraction is the amount that your bumpstop should be at full compression.

    If this wasn't determined already, I hope this helps you. It's a similar formula which I used to setup my air bumps long ago. The system works great and I get to both use the most out of my hydro bumps and my shock travel/ wheel travel.

    Searching for awhile now and finally got a good explanation. thanks for this! I’m ordering wheelers superbumps front and rear and wanted to measure my rear for the right size spacers need for the bumps.
    Will definitely consider collapse length on shocks also.

    Currently using stock 2019 OR leaf springs with a 1.5” AAL. And Using extended Bilsteins*
