5100's and OME 885's. Waiting to win the lotto to get all I want done.
Pretty new on TW and wanted to go on this trip but had other engagements. My son and I are planning on hitting this trail up this weekend or during the next week and this will be my first time up there. I was just wondering what side of the trail was the best to start off on or is one side better than the other to go up and turn around and head back down. Not looking for anything too crazy since I am just running stock with 5100's all around 2.5 front and 1.5 AAL rear. Also wondering how much time to plan for either route. I have been scanning threads for awhile and hope to get out with you guys in the near future.

This is the route we took:
    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=docs://0BzDTdvxO3NTwZmRXUXh0QUJESE0

Easy enough going up for a stock truck. If you stay right at the top and head down it does get rocky. My mild '10 TRD took it easy, you shouldn't have any issues. Good camping spots up there too.
Check out georgiaoverland.com for a bunch of tracks and info you can import to follow on a GPS device.

Plan for 2 hours up and down with the above track, with no stopping and moderate pace.

I've got video but I have to retouch client photoshoots before I can work on it.

Plus Comcast, in their infinite wisdom, has shut off my internet due to their own billing issue so that'll need to be fixed as well....
