my 07 Tacoma cabin filter area was completely filled with sunflower seeds including the gan basket area - don't know how the varmint got in there but I cleaned it out the best I could by snaking a small vacuum hose in. There may be some residual left but I cannot see any. Fan now works quietly on first two lower speeds but a definite louder vibration noise can be heard on the higher speeds. This vibration can be felt in the dask and steering wheel when on highest speed. Is there much too taking the housing apart to look at the motor and fan?

Just got my 09, and turned on the AC for the first time - nasty vibration. Jumped on the site, did a search and the pulled the cabin filter - it was dirty. Fan looked clean, but pulled it anyway as its only 3 screws:

Kibbles stuck in the blades. Quick bit of clean up and it runs smoooth now.
Not sure how the little bazterd got in there, but some rodent sure did. Problem solved.

If you pull the fan look for a crack on the inside housing, might not be very visible but it expands as it spins up. I haven't seen it on a tacoma but have on a Titan with the same noise issues at higher speeds. YMMV
