After owning this truck for a little over a year now, one of the biggest complaints I have is driving at night, as our headlights do not have the best output. I knew down the line I was wanting to purchase a retrofit set as I owned one for my old Tundra, but unfortunately did not currently have the funds. I knew for sure I did not want to buy a pairof HID Kits, as I also bought me a pair in my old Tundra prior to the retrofit and could not believe how much glare those things gave off (and yes, I bought a set with the shields).

I decided to purchase the PIAA 9003 / H4 bulb set at 5000k from Automatcentral (http://www.automatcentral.com/9003-blinglights-bulbs.html). I bought the set on Monday evening, was shipped out on Tuesday and I received them on Saturday. Packaging was like Fort Knox when it came to unpacking, but I was happy to see two sets of bulbs undamaged.

The first thing I wanted to do was compare the color between stock and the PIAA’s.

    Stock Bulbs:

Next, I switched out my passenger side stock bulb and installed the new PIAA H4 bulb. Turned my lights on and the difference is really clear between the two against my garage door.

The color is quite different between the two, with the PIAA’s at a much whiter color.

Finally, I switched both of the bulbs to the new PIAA’s and checked them out for both color and brightness.

Comparing these to stock lights, they are hands down brighter, wider, and better color in my opinion. I owned an older set of Sylvania Silverstars and I think the color is whiter than the Sylvanias, with the projection about the same. Overall, I am glad I made the purchase as driving at night has become both easier and looks a heck of a lot better. I did not want to spend the money buying a set of Lifetime LED headlight bulbs, but wanted something that looked better than stock, until I could afford a set of retrofits.
