Hey guys, looking to buy some 33 12.5's for my truck and i'm thinking i need to go up in size from my stock rims. do you guys recommend i stick with 15's or go up and also how wide should i go in rims?

…. just got off a quick call with 4wheel parts and they guy told me I can't run 15's because they won't clear the brake calibers and i can't even run steel 16's without a spacer and i would have to run aluminum. how true is that? I thought a lot of people were running these.

rim advice (black) for a white 03 extra cab? don't like over the top. i was going to go with pro comp 97's with the holes.

Plenty of people run 15s its just dependent on the rim usually

The stock 15's will fit 33x10.5's

I've heard some types of 15's have a little lip that will contact the caliper apparently. As far as 15 vs 16 its personal preference. I like the look of less wheel/more tire

some hit the caliper and some dont. When I got my new ones I had to take some choice out because they would hit. Just curious for 12.5s do you have to run a wider rim?

'99 Tacoma, 33 x 12.50's on stock rims. 2.5 inch spacer lift. I used 1.5 inch wheel spacers all around but they probably would have fit just fine without them. Just wanted to have plenty of clearance for snow chains if needed. Daily driven and no issues with this setup after 10 months of being lifted.
I think the narrow rim thing with 12.50's is a bunch of BS made up to sell more rims, probably by 4 wheel parts. I got the same story when buying tires for my FJ40 years ago. I just bought the tires and took them to Les Schwab to be mounted as they would not do it.
On that I run 35 x 12.50's on old school Toyota 7 inch rims. Wheeled the crap out of them at low PSI many times and have had no bead issues at all in the last 10 years. If anything I have found it keeps a tighter bead at low pressures than with wider rims plus it seems to keep dirt and crap out of the bead area better. Good luck!

I'm running 15x8's with my 33x1250s. You'll be fine with a lot of 15 wheels, just check for fitment ahead of time.

go with a 15x8 or 15x10 for 33x12.50s. You can not run a stock 15 with 12.5 wide tires.

You'll want about 3.5'' Backspacing on them to keep from rubbing on the frame at full lock.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
I'm the minority here. Running 18x9s, that's as big as I'd go though.

I run 33x12.50s on a set of 15x10 alloy ions and have no clearance issues but again it depends on the rim.

Personally I would stick with a 15 if you can. Everyone seems to be running them just fine on 15s. 15s are going to be cheaper for the tires no doubt and same with the rims. I have 17s and 35s are usually over 300 a tire dependent on brand. 15s are well under 300 a tire. something to consider.

15x10 here as well with 33x12.5. 3/4" bolt on spacers to clear the calipers. Swapping soon to some 17"ray10's with 33x12.5's. Unless I dont like the new look, because I LOVE my 15 x10's. But also have some 16 x10's too if all else fails. Trying to run tundra brakes as well. And 15' s don't cut it.
