Just a bunch of old crap
June 16 was the last stocking for trout this summer until September, so you better get up there soon depending on the fishing pressure it has seen. No reason you can't catch a few stockers in there this weekend or the next.

Didnt catch anything up at Chevelon last monday. Very Disappointed. Only people on the entire lake so thats a plus and the weather was amazing as well. Went over to good ol woods canyon to finish off the day and my dad and I caught a couple 12inchers before heading back to Tempe.

Sorry to hear that. It's definitely the wrong time of year for brown trout as they stick to the deeper water in the heat. We got really lucky with the one, was the only thing we've caught there so far. We went up to Chevelon Creek Friday through Sunday to see how it looked but came up empty handed. We camped on a ridge and hiked about half a mile down to the creek. It was really low in some spots with secluded pools all throughout. Hiked for about 2-3 miles looking for some deeper pools, nothing more than 3 or 4 feet. We didn't expect to catch anything so we found a nice spot to swim and explore for the afternoon. Eventually a guy and his wife walked by with fishing gear but hadn't caught anything either. About four hours later they come back down the creek carrying a 20 inch brown and two 12 inch rainbows! So by that point the suns starting to get pretty low so we head upstream to try and find where he caught them but they were gone for so long they could of walked pretty far. Went as far as we could but had to turn back as our camp was a good hike away. We were going to go back down and fish Sunday but the first hike was nearly vertical to get up to the camp so we were both dead and decided to go home. All in all it was still a fun trip, fish or no. Another reason we went was for a meteor shower, as it was a new moon. I've never seen so many stars in my entire life! Pictures to follow

Pictures turned out awesome! How do you capture all those stars with such lowlight? Change the exposure settings? How was the fishing?

It's getting close to fishing time!

My goals: Sight fishing 2-3 times in March-April and night fishing 3-4 times in May-June. Plus a couple trout/random trips.

If anyone wants to head down to Pena Blanca lake for a fishing trip, I'll be there working on the 28th of this month from 730a-1230p. Just a heads up!

There's great largemouth bass fishing there currently (although it is catch and release only for now), and trout fishing has been hit or miss depending on the day.

Yes sir, it's VERY south. It's west of Rio Rico which is about 6-10 miles north of Nogales. The lake itself is great. It was recently renovated and has a lot of places to shore fish or you can take a boat out as well.

Here is some more general info:

Anyone been out lately? I'm gonna make a day trip on Sunday down south to try Pena Blanca. I also know that there has been pretty good luck at the Community Fishing Program lakes here in Tucson (unsure about Phoenix). There's one more stocking of Rainbow Trout in the CFP lakes for the winter!

Heading out to Horseshoe Dam to catfish point in a couple weekends to try and nail some big cats with some big live baits. All of the reports say the cats have been heading up the river, so that means the big flatheads are probably in spawn mode below the dam. Can't wait to slay another 40+ pounder.

I have pictures of my most recent sport fishing trip in Kona. I will post up later. Didn't catch anything big this go around, but got some Skipjack and Ahi. The young ones are feisty and taste delicious.

I would love to go fishing somewhere around there! I've never done anything like that but I am dying to. Maybe for graduation.

It will ruin you. I love fishing here in freshwater, but it just doesn't compare to being out on the ocean. The fish are MUCH bigger, stronger, and taste 200x better.
