I've put a '96 3RZ in my '85 4runner. I've got crank but no spark. Fuel is good, the chain timing is correct, there are no codes thrown by the ECU. When I put the distributor in, I'm rotating the first cylinder to TDC, putting the rotor at 12:00, and watching it rotate to the wire on cylinder one as I slide it in. Is this correct?

Seems like a stupid question I know, but my copy of the FSM is for the later motors with coil packs, and I've been googling for a bit now with no luck. Any help would be much appreciated!

distributor in wrong orientation won't cause no spark, just spark at the wrong time. Dist. Only "distributes" spark, spark still comes from a coil so I'd start there or with the associated electricals.
