For those of you that have never seen this, I thought it was pretty interesting. There's Chinese manufacturers that basically steal designs for everything. From Purses to iPads...Apparently the Tacoma is no different. This one is called a "Huanghai Major". If you've ever wondered what the inbred result of a cheap date between a Tacoma and a Hilux would look like...look no further.

Hope this isn't a repost...I've never seen it before...

Looks like a Tacoma crashed with a Subaru Forester, Subaru Baja and a Nissan Frontier.

Traveling to china is quite an experience. I've seen knock off Prados parked right next to the real deal. I have seen knock off Corolla's, X5's, Troopers, 3 Series, Patrols etc etc... The best part is seeing a BYD Corolla knockoff with a Mitsubishi engine. The Mitsubishi engine is the most widely used drivetrain in the knock offs.My wifes father drives a corolla knock off. It was interesting to see that all the cheap ebay parts we see flooding our market are what these cars are essentially constructed from. Body panel seams and gaps vary widely from corner to corner. Hyundais, VW's and Audis are everywhere though...

Thats what the Chinese are best at.Making things that 'look' like useful things.
Just go to Harbor Freight and look around.
If you buy something there you probably use once a year its OK.
Not a place to buy durable goods.Just stuff that 'looks' like good stuff.
They will take returns no questions asked...I will say that for them.
Usually though it's not the Chinese fault...it's the engineering from other countries that have manufacturing done there.

CBI plate rear bumper with swingaway, SPC Light Racing UCAs, ARB SS170HF Safari snorkel w/ Afrikaans centrifugal pre-cleaner, Tacoma antenna mod, TRD Supercharger w/ URD 7th inj. & URD pulleys, Anti-Dark engine bay lighting system. Having gone 250k, Aug 2016 was the time to replace the original clutch & get the driver's seat rebuilt/stuffed. Front & back Weathertech liners. Tundra front disc brake swap. Full length Rocky Mountain Rack with 40" lightbar & alternating strobe rear dust lights. I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new, from old stock, 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

In the micro-mechanical watch world we see this all the time. This is a country that believes so hardcore in communism that copyright law is irrelevant & damn near traitorous.
The real downside to it is with no regulation, NOTHING is interchangeable. Be forewarned that that Breitling knockoff you get for $500 bucks in Quandong or off eBay is high quality & worth every Yuan until something breaks. The spring tension engines that are put in those watches are completely different from the replacement ones (or the individual parts) available from the same factory. It's maddening. :annoyed:

I just love some of the standard features such as,,,,,,,,,"a radio cassette player", both anti-glazing interior mirror and a manual rear view mirror, a " SABS" what ever that is and a cloth seat to boot!

Innovation and generousity to boot. What a country!!!!!

Seeing these vehicles up close I can say with assertion that they are definitely not manufactured to the same high standards we are accustomed to here in the US...

Does not look like a Toyota to me at all. Looks more like a Honda ridgeline and Subaru mix.

"Huanghai Major" sounds like a nickname for a one-eyed body part.

    Watches?

    I love watches.

Luckily I have a local watch master / inovator in town who can create one of a kind MODS.

Not sure which side of the market you side with (Swiss vs. everything else) but I drive Toyotas and I wear Seikos but I will drive it like I stole it all the way down to a Timex.
