New to the Taco world. Love it so far. 2013 DC TRD Sport. It came with a Revtek spacer lift which I hate. Looks great. Rides like crap. It's my daily driver but on the weekends I like to hit the dirt roads (nothing crazy). A lot of the roads I do have been graded and a very bumper. Jars the crap out of me with the spacer lift. I've been reading a ton about suspension over the weekend but can't really find the answer I'm looking for.

What would be smoothest over the bumps:

5100 all around set on 3rd knotch (in the front) with 2" aal or 5100 set at 0 with OME 885 or eibach? (Which would be the smoother coils?)

    I'm running 265/70R17 Duratracs.

From what I've read neither setup requires a diff drop or UCA's.

    How it sits now:

For the rear I wouldn't recommend the 5100's with a 2in AAL in the rear as they are not much longer than the stock shocks and will likely top out pretty hard... go with something like the OME N182's that offer a bigger extended length while having the same collapsed length as the 5100's for the rear of the tacoma. (they offer a solid 1.2in more of shock travel than the standard length 5100's something like 2.5in more of travel over stock).

After a bunch of research thats what i wound up with... OME N182's with the wheelers single 2in AAL in the rear.

For the front i went with my stock TRD OR coils and 5100's set at 1.75 (3rd notch) and was able to get it aligned right and ride is stiffer but its a proper truck stiff.... nothing crazy.

I just ordered new leafs, wheelers hd 5 leaf pack, and 5100's all around. Wheelers recommended the 5100's for the rear. I hope I wasn't mislead. I went with ome 884 springs for the front

    ALL KINDS OF SHIT
Yes the rear 5100 is only good for 1.5" of lift they offer a longer one but it says its good for 3 to 4" of lift. I would just do the 1.5 progressive 3 leaf aal but if you want or think you need 2" than do that. I have 885 coils on 5100's on an AC and mine rides great. Honestly cant tell much difference over stock. I do notice my truck corners much better than stock. I gained exactly 2.5" in the front with my 885's. No UCA's required, lined up perfect. I drove one with 5100's set at 2.5 with stock springs, the ride was much stiffer in front than mine. No diff drop required either. Most say that it is a bad idea on these trucks, i never liked the idea on any truck to be honest. A lot of guys are running Eibach springs with 5100's set at .85, most say they ride really well with that setup also. Most guys running these setups with a 1.5 aal say they retain a .5 to 1" rake. Im sure you cant go wrong either way. My 2cents, hope it helps. Im no pro but ive done a bunch of home work.

Do you have your 5100 set at 0 with the 885's?

Don't get me wrong 5100s will work in the rear just not optimal with a 2in aal. And unless you run a very thick leaf pack like the all pro expo or Dakar or run a really extended bumpstop the extended 5100 (b110) will fully compress before hitting the bump which is bad!

And the 5125 in the rear is a suboptimal setup as you loose travel as well due to the adaptor needed.

I got 5125 from dsm. They said it works well with 2" aal. The 5125 has different lengths that you can order. For 2" and for 3-4" etc. this is what I've heard,

yes the 5125's have all sorts of different lengths you can order. But because they use an eye style top mount instead of a pin like stock, you have to use an adapter. This makes you loose about an inch to inch and a half of space between the upper and lower shock mount, which inturn means you have to use a shock that has less travel, otherwise you get into the situation where the shock will bottom out before the bumpstop hits the frame... which is NO good.

Hi does anyone know if TRD OR rear shocks (are they blue and yellow) are longer then the SR5 oem black shocks? I installed an ICON three leaf 1.5" progressive leaf pack and I"m looking for a longer rear shocks.

I don't think I had to use adapters when I installed mine. It was direct replacement

I emailed wheelers today, and Toyota Dan said the 5100's will work with my wheelers hd packs that will give 2" of lift. He also mentioned the extended bump stops if I were to go with a longer shock, ie 5125 or ome. I'll try them and hope for the best.

Lifts. The more I read on them the more confused I get about which I want. So many options and each seem to have pro's/cons along with varying opinions and recommendations. Besides spending 2-4g on "the good stuff" the 5100 with 885's seem to get an overall decent review and falls within my budget. Next thing to decide is weather to keep my 1.5" black in the rear or replace it with aal. I don't off road hard just cruise down dirt roads basically so I'm not too concerned with axle warp. I don't tow or haul anything in the box (maybe a quad once a year for 200km). AAL sound "better" but from what I read it will be firmer/rougher than the blocks. Decisions decisions.
