Thinking on relocating my battery to the bed to have better weight distribution. I already have the pelfreybuilt cage for the 31m battery. Lets see how you guys mounted up your batteries in the bed.

Mine is under the bed mounted to the frame.

Probably in the way of your upper links, but a good spot for leafsprung trucks wondering about this as if keeps your bed free.

For those that are relocating your battery, are you then extending all of your wires back to the engine bay or is this just for a dual battery setup?

How is this working for you? I am thinking of doing something similar with my Optima Yellow Top and putting it in a battery box. The battery is the "house" battery for a dual battery setup. There will be a Ctek battery controller setup under the hood. Any issues you can think of?

None that I can think of. I don't own the truck any longer but never had any issues with its location but it was super beefy gussets and plate work to hold the 52lbs battery there.

I ran a new cable from the battery in the bed straight to the starter. I kept the original wiring from the starter to the old battery location. I put a new end on the old battery cable and mounted a west marine battery post for all of that to connect to.

I moved the battery to get the weight off the fender and body.

My battery is under the spare(s).

i use some 0 gauge welding wire and i think it costs about 40-50 bucks for enough length to go back to the bed area

I grounded mine in multiple spots in the frame. Helps get better grounding paths with all the random chassis grounds. But I just welded bolts to the frame and than ram the wire from bolt to bolt with the last one being up in the engine bay.
