I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I say keep what you have and run 5.38's in the front. Having a little taller gear in the font helps when off road they pull the front tires around corners when going fast. And you shouldn't even have your hubs locked when on the road I know my transfer case hates it and makes all kinds of noises if I have them locked in 2wd going over 50mph. So your girl can hit the button all she wants and it shouldn't be a problem.

Front end won't be destroyed. Jerry explained it already. Pick an axle and stick with it young padawan.

I'm up to about 3500$ total in this truck. I do have a question for you SAS vets. My front shackles have a weird angle. I'm wanting to know the cheapest, best, easiest way to fix. Or if they might be "ok" I'm not a crawler more of a give it hell on trails and mud.

Let the springs settle then see what angle you've got. May have to move the shackle hangars a bit forward, but I bet its ok once things settle.

Thank you. The springs have only been on there about a week with very little driving. I was hoping the would settle a bit. I give it some time and see

The shackle angle is horrible... been there done that. Cut it off and move it closer to the front. That's what they should look like AT FULL DROOP. Ride quality is poor and you will thank me later when you don't flop a shackle forward and break a leaf spring or worse yet, tear your frame

Shackle angle at ride height - 40-45* angle.

I figured the 45 ball park was good for front shackles too, but I've seen so many rigs with almost vertical front shackle angles (usually on jeeps) at ride height, and near invert when dropped. I can't believe so many people built em like that.

Sooooo... I'm beginning to regret trying to sleeve my tie rod. It's the typical 1.5" OD x .25" DOM

I've seen a couple of tie rods bent from rock impacts, so I picked up some 1" solid round with a tensile strength of 115,000psi and yield of 100,000psi.

I figured it would be tight, but holy balls... I got it about 4" into the tie rod and it doesn't seem to be progressing any further. I cleaned out the DOM and sprayed both down with oil beforehand.

Any suggestions on where to go from here?:anonymous:

Sleeving the outside would give you more strength. Something like 1.75" OD x .120 DOM would slip right over because the wall thickness isn't .125, it's .120. Pull that solid piece out and sleeve the outside
