My Tacoma SR is a couple months old and I put around 2K miles a month on my truck, I wanted to get a 3" lift that would ride smooth on the highway and take the sway out of cornering... I am also into hunting and fishing and I wanted a lift that could handle the trails no problem too. I had a ToyTec Old man Emu lift in my 2003 Taco and loved it but the ToyTec BOSS Suspension System caught my eye and when I called ToyTec, I knew this was the kit!!! I like the stock Baja/SR wheels and plan to stick with them and add spacers if needed. Here is my build and I have not decided on tires yet, but thinking Nitto Trail Grapplers:

    Here she is stock

I headed over to The 4X4 Place in Lake Hopatcong, NJ for the install

Here is the ToyTec BOSS Suspension System! Awesome kit, coilovers were fully assembled and ready to bolt on!

More pics to come... also thinking Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/70R16. I also have a build and review video coming up on the lift, I plan on driving it with the stock tires to get a feel for the kit and a better review... and then bolt on the Nitto tires for the off-road performance. So far the kit is awesome! The ride is very smooth, even the add-a-leaf rides very smooth, big improvement over stock, especially in cornering, sway is gone! Very comfortable ride and I can't wait to bolt on the Nitto tires and see how it handles off-road!

I spent hours on this forum looking at forum member rigs trying to decide what way I wanted to go with my Taco... I hope these pics help others trying to get an idea if they are looking for their stock truck for upgrades, before and after with the ToyTec Boss lift with stock tires... I ordered my larger tires and hope to have them next week and I will get more pics up.

My son picked up a 1985 4Runner, the Tacoma is feeling like it needs more lift now! lol

Thanks. The diff drop came with the BOSS lift so we put it in... any drop in angle can't hurt... the boots are not that much $$$ but the labor to replace them is the killer!

    None... sigh
Looks good, wanting the same lift height, and I'm still undecided. SUBD for your opinion of the BOSS lift kit.

After the ToyTec BOSS lift was installed I drove the truck with the stock tires for just over 500 miles. The ride quality is a big improvement over the stock suspension, more responsive with the sway taken away and it has a comfortable ride on the road and off road, not stiff at all, even with the add-a-leaf! Extremely happy with the ToyTec BOSS kit and I just had the Nitto TrailGrapplers (285/70/16) put on... no rubbing or issues!!! These tires have an aggressive tread pattern but they do not have the noise that is usually associated with this type of tread, they are slightly louder than the stock tires. The ToyTec BOSS suspension and Trail Grapplers both have the best of both worlds! I drive around 2000 miles a month and I have found the perfect match, on road comfort and a combination that will take me off road to my hunting and fishing spots with no problems!

I will be getting in more off roading with the Nitto tires on now, I will have an install and review video coming soon!

Truck looks great. Does it have a 4 cylinder or the v6 and did the larger tires effect performance or was it not an issue?

Thanks! It has the 4 cylinder and the speedometer and GPS speed match perfectly now! I don't feel any difference in power... I am stoked about the ToyTec BOSS lift and Nitto 285/70/16's... rubbing is no issue, even with the mud flaps on... off road up next... I really see no issues but I will find out soon and post how it goes!

Nice writeup - Thanks for doing that.

Looking at the same kit for my not bought yet Tacoma.

Question - what rear option did you pick? When I go to the Toytec site - it gives 3 options:
    1. Toytex Add-a-leafs
    2. 1.5" block
    3. Toytec 2" Boss HD
    4. Toytec 2" Progressive add-a-leafs
    5. Complete OME Dakar Spring Pack

    Ok - so it's 5 options - but only 3 of those are add-a-leafs I think....

I went with the regular add-a-leaf, not the HD and it has a comfortable ride, much better than stock. Stock the rear used to "clunk" over bumps and RR tracks, now it is just cushioned and smooth.

I revised my build video and added the review:
