Curious to see if anyone else have an interest in surf fishing. If I can get a few of us together I'll start planning a small Offroad/meet day and top it off with fishing over night at Kaena Point. I would like to go this weekend or the weekend after so LMK!

    UPDATE: 7/17/2014
I've only fished there once, but from that experiance and google map it looks like its rocky/reef bottom. I always use a break away line for my sinkers to be safe not to lose my whole rig. Im currently running a Penn 4/0 and 6/0 with 80lb test, both on cheap Ulua poles. Planning on sliding Tako. Going to use a heavy rub line bout 5ft.

I am going to go ahead and set the date for 2 Aug. (details on what time and where to meet TBD) I am hoping to do this often so in case you cant make this over nighter there will be plenty more to come.

What's your setup for fishing there? I usually just hit up Kailua beach or nalo beach park (not too many rocks to lose weight or hooks lol)

I'm down.. may need to jump in with someone if the truck can't go where you want to go (even with the locked 2x).

To the places that we can't drive in, my setup is an aluminum cart with kayak tires, cooler, chair, and sport umbrella.. we have walked in a couple miles in deeper sand going out behind kahuku GC, and moks is a good 150-200 yds. If we get lucky and can go Marconi Rd, then I can sleep in my zero gravity under a 10x10 or in my covered bed..

Not sure if I gotta work this weekend, so I put down for first weekend in August. If I don't have to work this Saturday, I'll be able to go. Now gotta look and make sure I have bait in the freezer.
Neil, nice setup. Beats having to carry everything in.
BTW, what kind of rig does everyone have?

kaena get choke reef/rocky areas so you going lose your lead and super windy so if you not tossing a good chunk of lead then you see your line just fly in the wind. couple spots good at keana if you can get them before the ulua fisherman get them.

have fun be safe waters are super strong out there

Aug 2nd is the set date, I just need an input for the time and location to meet up.

Yes stock Tacoma is more then enough to get to where we need. I'm not expert fisherman, but that looks like a good setup. I only heard good things about the Seagates.
