If shit really hit the fan I would want to be on foot or on a duelsport not in a Tacoma aka big moving target with horrible mpg.

True, but I would probably take my wifes Subaru Outback over a truck. Almost as capable as say a stock SR5, 4x4 Tacoma (Not an OR, BajaTX or Pro) obviously, but you get the point. Put it this way, I've driven the wifes '11 & '13 Outback to the same places my previous truck ('13 Ford FX4 with locker & EcoBoost) got stuck or had trouble on OE tires. I've also never driven a more capable vehicle in the snow than our Outback. True story, last snow-pocalypse we had in Tahoe. Wife & Kids and I were driving when the road turned to 6"+ of un-plowed powder, slush and white-out conditions. Almost every car, CUV & SUV, truck etc.. was starting to get stuck and not move. I was actually following in the wake of a well sorted out and lifted 2nd Gen Tacoma, TRD OR. Wife says "Should we pull over and camp" I say no, we aren't really prepared for that, I'm going to follow this Tacoma through the storm. Sure enough, looked in the rear view and it was a pileup, just us in the Outback following a 2nd Gen Tacoma through a blizzard effortlessly.

Plus her car gets 30 mpg hwy with a 2.5 boxer four. It has more room and is a more comfortable place to sit for any sizeable distance .vs my Tacoma. Its dead reliable, and a relatively simple appliance in case something gets broken or fails in zombie land.

Ideally, stock for stock though, I would have to say a Mercedes G-Wagon (I think those come with front & rear lockers stock??). Yet the mpg's would be awful at like 10 or 11 mpg's.

If a zombie type thing ever happened if every stays inside everything will be fine. It's when 99% of the retards try to run away that causes problems. People are really really really good at killing things.

Just a bunch of yummy snacks on the freeway at that point.

Great concept but I've shot 3 and all of the patterned rather than grouped. Accuracy even at 25yards was God awful. I keep a tube fed Marlin model 60 knock off in the truck. Tube feed means no mags to lose.

I keep everything is a box in the back of the ex. cab. I have an axe, blankets, food, water, matches, flashlights, wind-up radio, ammo, 30-30 rifle, fire extinguisher, couple knives, nuclear fallout pills, ect. Most of it is for camping/tailgating fun but also if I ever have to be in a survival situation or emergency ill be prepared. Id also say a good set of a/t tires (Cooper A/T3), and a Bestop imo

My choice of tire for a dooms day situation would be, Michelin M/S-2 hands down. Not the best looking tire for a truck, but it is durable, capable in snow and ice, rain and last forever.

How much clearer can you be when the OP says "all around". All around is all around.

Is the truck gonna keep you from being on foot? And if you really wanna take care of business, carry a dirtbike in the bed at all times. Sounds like a doomsday plan to me
