    Very new to this.

Wed I got nailed in the parking lot. Best case LF fender, bumper, left headlight. Haven't opened the hood and won't.

I've read or heard before about being able to claim the diminished value of the vehicle after an accident if the other party is at fault. Perhaps I am wrong or it is not an option.

Has anyone heard or dealt with this?

I live in MA if that matters.

Doesn't look as bad in this one. The headlight is pushed to the right over an inch..fender buckled and creased.

The bumper is pushed in about 3-4 inches where the factory foggie is there. The fog lens looks fine but not sure about behind that.

Who would you call, just an appraiser or someone else?

The $300 or so, do you have to eat that or does the other insurance recompense?

My GF got hit pretty good in a parking lot about 4 months ago. She settled for $3k in DV without paying anyone to help her. She is just stubborn as hell and spent a couple weeks going back and forth with the other guy's insurance.

Good point, sometimes pays to spend a little and get a lot

2010..5 lug 2 wheel drive. 34K miles. Not a dent on it and only a couple of small scratches. I wax it a few times a year, interior is mint. Suffice to say it's well cared for.

Without opening the hood my brother in law (30 yrs of auto body) guesstimated close to 4k and about 55 hours into it including having to blend paint and whatnot.

I have owned it almost 2 yrs, and the dealer had the Carfax which was clean for any other accidents..had 6k when I purchased it.

Make sure you check the BBB site before you hand your money over to a company to help you with your DV claim. Some of them are pretty shady and don't do anything but update a few simple bits of information they have on a word document template they have on file and fax it to the other guy's insurance company. Something you can do yourself.

That's just it, the other vehicles I ever had damage to were either $800 shitheaps anyways. The one exception was my 1997 Olds Achieva that I cracked up in 2002, but that was my fault and a single-car thing (and got a new pair of bracelets too, DOH!).

I will definitely ask my agent, I'm sure I'll have to speak to them shortly..thanks!

If your not at fault, you 'eat' nothing! If your not sure how to negotiate this get a lawyer. Kiley law firm FTW! I think they're in Andover.

If my agent isn't able to assist, I have a lawyer in Brockton who I can hit up..
