Roof rack and front lights will definitely hurt mileage. I know this will sound nuts, but check your ATRAC button. I have had two Tacomas and both of them would take MPG hits if I forgot to turn ATRAC off. I don't know why; ATRAC isn't supposed to affect anything when in 2H, but it did on both of my trucks.

You are getting almost 30 mpg? I can't believe that, not with a V6. The absolute best I've seen is 220 to a half tank, and I drive lightly.

You should get at least 500+ miles until light is on? I consistently get 350-370 miles until light is on (50/50 city/hwy).

Do you have a Larger than 21 gallons tank?

About what I get out of mine. Gas light usually comes on around ~300 depending on how often I'm in a bad mood when I leave work.

Getting 18.1 mpg over the past 10 or so tanks. On 265/75/16 ATs w/ 3" lift and armor.

If his numbers are correct then he's getting about 37mpg! Which I don't see how that's possible, especially with a V6. I was getting 37mpg in a Toyota hybrid car we rented and that was all highway. I want his secret.

OP- I know I'm a first gen but city driving and highway driving can be night and day. Is most of your driving city? I get 13-14 avg. mpg when only city driving and 20mpg when driving highway only. Plus all trucks are different. Maybe have some components tested to be sure of proper function, ie. O2 sensors, cat converters. Hope you figure it out!

I can eek out right at 22mpg in my DCSB 4x4 auto v6 trd OR with AC on running on the hwy at 65mph.

My day to day which is ~ 25mi round trip per day for work down a back road with a couple of lights then some city driving for lunch usually nets me 18mpg.

No, my best MPG is a around 25. I normally average around 22 mixed driving. From the half mark down the needle drops a lot faster than for the first half as any vehicle does.

Interesting. At my best, I'm about 350 until light comes on. Comes out to a hair over 20. It's not uncommon for me too see 17 though...

should show better MPGs once it's calibrated correctly.

Yeah it will be better, because your tires are traveling further than your ODO thinks they are. Reset your UG trip, pick a long straight-a-way, 10 miles is a good minimum. Drive for that 10 miles and use a GPS or Odometer app and tell your UG how far you really traveled. For example, for 10 miles your app or GPS may read 10 and your UG will read 9.0. It is more accurate over longer trips but 4 digits (xx.xx) is pretty good. The reason it should be a straightaway is that GPS and odo apps sometimes smooth edges resulting in inaccuracy.

    I recently went from 265/55R20 (30.5) to 265/75R16 (31.5) and when I recalibrated I got 2 more MPGs.

I have signed up for fuelly I'll find out on my next fill up. I do mostly city driving going to work. So if there is no engine light on for anything that is wrong any one have any suggestions on what could be causing that?

I don't have a clue but I can tell you it isn't normal. Have you done anything different recently? Are your RPMs higher than they usually are? Different shift points? Any unusual noises? Any difference at all in anything?

My last fill up using Premium yielded 22.5 MPG. When I was running regular fuel it consistently obtained about 21.5 MPG.

My Ultraguage tells me I get 21.5 consistently ... Running between 60 and 70 mph results in the best gas mileage. Here is a photo from yesterday. When I filled up I added 18.5 gallons of 89 octane. V6 running 265/70-17 Coopers

My gas gauge drops fast between 3/4 and 1/4 ... I'm not sure how far I drove with the light on but the needle is way past empty mark. I had a gas can in the bed so I wasn't worried. I was surprised that I didn't add more gas

What do you mean by the best gas mileage is at 60-70?

My personal experience ... The instantaneous mpg feature of the Ultraguage shows that my truck gets the best gas mileage between 60-70 mph... Engine RPMs are at or below 2000. I used to run faster but I'd rather get better fuel mileage... and the chance of me getting a speeding ticket are nil. :D
