I've read people saying that their rock sliders helped protect them against doors opening into their trucks, preventing more major damage from being sideswiped, and other things alongside the protection they give you offroad. My question is, what sliders do you guys recommend? Light weight would be great, but mainly I want the best protection I can find.

    Look at build!
I make them as well as many other companies. Theres a link in my sig.

To get protection your going to have weight, mine are all DOM tubing as well.. Bolt ons will weigh more due to the massive plate the slider itself is welded to, welded is the goto IMO but I know some prefer being able to remove them. Mine weigh around 115# for weld ons per set.

Cant really go wrong with sliders, they'll trumple over those bolt on step bars that simply bolt to the body mounts which wont save very much if they needed other than door dings in a parking lot and to be used as steps.

As for who's to get it all just boils down to personal preference in style and design etc.

Sliders help mall crawlers in parking lots. With sliders, door dings will come from the back door of passenger cars. Front doors will just hit the sliders. If i had my sliders on during my accident. My doors wouldn't have been crumpled lol

Famous Fab quit making them for the time being. I liked the look better than others. Bolt-ons are not as secure as weld-ons, but more durable than most will admit. The weld-on will effect your warranty if you have one. I liked the kickout in case of actually hitting a rock. That will depend on whether you plan to go offroad. Finally check this thread for some options.

Purchased some Avid off road kick outs last year at their end of summer sale. 15% off (sale) plus the 10% TW member discount. I got the bolt ons but ended up converting them to weld on with the help of another member here.

I went with SOS and ordered a set from him. He's using 1boredclerk's bolt-on plates in conjuction with his design. That's what ultimately sold me on them was the 100% bolt on option with no drilling required. He also seems to be building a solid reputation on the forum for good quality work.

Ultimately whatever brand you choose is up to you. There are many good vendors to choose from.

I've been looking at them also...does they make it harder to get into a lifted truck?

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
I've got a set of All-Pro off road sliders that just came in last week. Bought them on their Memorial Day sale; free shipping.

I ordered the bolt on heavy duty version with the filler plates. Ship weight was 140#.

Should be getting them powder coated soon and then installed.

    BAMF.

Probably has the most sliders here on TW and he's local to you so you don't have to pay for shipping.

I have some Demello bolt-on sliders and I think they're great. But seeing that you're in the northbay, I would definitely recommend BAMF for reasons as this gentleman above me has stated!
