So I've had four 2nd gen Tacoma's over the last almost decade, and two have had the Tacoma Dash Dent. I've read posts here of people that have had the dealer replace the entire dash pad (Doesn't bother me bad enough to have potentially more damage caused by said dealer to fix) I'm just curious how many of you have the same dash dent as I?

This is a 2014, Tacoma, about three months old, 4500 miles. It's been there basically since day one. Nobody really ever rides on the pass side. Anyone know if it's something behind the dash that causes it?

My truck came with a tiny imperfection right there as well. it wasn't a dent, but the top coat was kinda missing. bad spot!

Wow. I've never seen that? I wonder if mine has it. I hardly ever sit in my passenger seat unless I'm drunk and my old lady is driving us home and in that situation I'm not wondering how dented my dash might be lol.

If I purchased a new truck and seen that dent, there is no way in hell I'm bringing it home until they fix it.

At least it doesn't bother you too much.

I've never seen that before. I know it would drive me crazy if it were there though.

no such thing a tacoma dent, that is a screwup

there are such things as knobs who deliver vehicle from plant to train to truck to dealer

I am not sure, but there may be extra parts and whatnot strapped into the pass seat pre-delivery and removing whatever is there might be a tight fit, and monkeys bump it

It could be the way the dashes are stacked (at the factory)that causes it....(pondering)

I know weird right, that's what I thought. But my old 2007, 2nd gen had the same dent there. Seriously, it doesn't bother me one bit. Was just curious if anyone else had it more than anything.

I've never seen a dealer remove an entire dash, then re-install it without screwing everything else up along the way. So that's why I'm leaving it as is. My wife hasn't even noticed it, so it's only noticeable to my OCD meter.

That looks like a sink mark from an injection gate during the part molding ?? Poor packing and holding time....

That's what I was thinking. I'll have to look tonight to see if I have this problem on my '14.

UPDATE: I don't have it on mine.

If that were the case, everybody would have a mark there.

Injections are done from the back, not the finish face in this case.

No dent here. I think the trucker was hauling little kids from Nicaragua.

Guys, seriously it's hardly even noticeable. Only someone on TW riding in my truck would even notice it's there. Definitely doesn't bother me, and I'm one of the most OCD people you would ever meet about cars.

Same truck, same dash, without direct sun and not so close up on the dent, and you don't even see it. I only notice it, as like I said my 2007 2nd gen had the same dent there.

Not true. You can change many settings and the material composition(add regrind..) that will change a perfect parts to one that looks terrible. These can vary during molding over time. The sprue/injection point if not packed out will shrink and cause a pucker.... on the opposite side of the part.
