2006. Dble cab. Massachusetts. Was told last sat frame needs to be replaced. 6 to 8 weeks. Got the letter month ago and just happened to drop it off to be looked at. I thought I was keeping an eye on the rust.... but they told me I would have to "sign my life away" to leave the dealership that day with truck. "If there is a dime sized perforation". Dealership said they had done about dozen to date. Service dude took me out back to see 3 old taco frames.
My advice...don't be to anxious to be the first to have this done at a dealership but don't risk being the last.

Got my notice in the mail a few weeks ago. I'm in Manitoba so it does apply here as well. I'm pretty impressed that Toyota is stepping up to look after this. I can't say many others would. Then again, I can't say there are many others that last as long as a Toyota.

My frame looks pretty solid but they are still going to do the inspection, the coating and provide a 15 year warranty from the date my truck went into service. How can you complain about that?

Just got a call from the dealer. They found a spot that they are having an engineer who is going to be in the area today look at. Should have an answer by the end of the day. Not sure I know which way I hope this goes, I guess a new frame would be nice, but whatever. lol.

Boss's '06 SR5 DCSB is. They found a hole and he's just waiting on a new frame to come in. They told him he's okay to drive it until then.

Co-Worker's '07 TRD OR DCSB is not. Lots of surface rust, but no hole, so they sprayed it.

Hoping the change of manufacturers means my 2011 never runs into issues like this.

Well, the engineer said the hole in the frame is enough to replace the whole frame. They are ordering the parts and they will be in in 3-4 weeks. then it's another 1-2 weeks to replace it. Gonna see if they will put bilsteins on instead of the factory shocks instead. Factory shocks have 105k on them.

Aloe, did you receive a letter, or did you approach the dealer on your own? I have an '07 DCLB with mostly surface rust on the frame. I would be thrilled for them to replace it or spray & warranty it before this coming winter.

This is why I get mine touched up at the body shop every fall. Usually cost about $50-100 but I usually only have a few spots. Definitely cheaper than buying a new truck!

Question: Does anyone know if there is any cost associated with this replacement to the owner?

There is no charge for the frame replacement as long as you take it to a good dealer with a good service department. I had mine done with rear leaf springs, brake lines, tail light wiring harness, spare tire carrier, front control arms with ball joints and a lot of other small stuff plus a nice Camry to use while they were doing it. All at no charge...

Dealership just called and said my frame is on back order and won't be in until January. They want me to bring back the rental they put me in and take my truck back until the frame arrives! I think that is bullshit and they are taking a huge liability chance. I need some advice on how to approach this one! Thoughts?
