If it was a Ford '78-'79 Dana 60 I'd say yes. Otherwise, I'd pass. Even being 'rebuilt' isn't worth anything more (to me anyway). Most of the major components would still be replaced again (axle shafts, R&P, carrier, etc.)

14Bs are cheap and plentiful. The newer 14B (now the 'AAM 1050') comes from the factory with disk brakes and e-brake.

You can find a junk yard 60 for cheap and build it the way YOU want it. Or... (to be perfectly honest) if I could do it all over again, I'd have an axle built from the ground up instead of paying $850 for my Ford '78 D60 (which are normally $1,000-$1,200 IIRC?) and gutting the entire thing. (All I kept was the housing, knuckles, and spindles.)

But if it's purely for street use or you just want to half-ass it, an axle with 4.10s and stock components should work fine.

    pics? more info?

Front Ford '78-'79 D60s in good shape can run anywhere from $800-1200. I don't think I'd pay more than $250 for a rear axle, no matter the condition unless it's already built/upgraded.

Agreed. Dana 70U, 70HD SRW& DRW, 14 Bolts, etc. go for around $150.00 here all day. Dime a dozen. Kingpin 60 fronts is another story altogether. Around $1000.00

Condition is a big factor. Check seals if you can. Turn the knuckles, pinion, axle shafts, locking hubs etc. make sure things move freely and there's no damaged bearings and what not.

If you can, crack them open and check to make sure nothings seriously damaged, dry/rusted, etc.

    This is bad, mmmmkay?

Also look for hairline cracks on the knuckles like this

Got a couple of pictures. Looks pretty good to me. Im getting 2 dana 60 high pinion king pin for the front (probably going to sell one or keep for spare not sure yet), 1 dana 60 rear, 5 super swamper 42" in good shape ,and 5 aluminum wheels all that for 3000$.

Let me know if you think its a good deal or not

Looks like he might have spray painted it to cover up some rust. As long as everything else that I mentioned checks out, yeah that's a pretty reasonable deal.

Holy front blocks. Sketch. Looks like a decent 60 though. Casting #'s? Kingpins look suspicious. Dana 50?

That seems like a pretty fair deal. I am putting 1 tons under my 94. 14 bolt was the easy part to find and super cheap. I needed a pass side drop, which is chevy or dodge. That was trickier to find. Found one at a smoking deal. The 14 bolt is almost ready to go.

What are you guys running for driveline adapters? To get the yota d-shafts mated up?

Not uncommon to see a 50/60 hybrid.

With Dana 50 outers yes, very common when making a 14 bolt front or other varient. The other way around would be just plain stupid.

Agreed, no reason to hybrid for kingpins and retain a 30 spline, smaller bearings and ring but you see lots of people doing really dumb shit. Not unlike the OP's donor rig.
