I recently got the opportunity to put a go pro under my truck to check and see if I had axle wrap. It turns out I do have axle wrap and its worse than I thought. I don't feel any clunking or anything. It just feels like my power isn't going straight to the wheels when I get on the gas. Is this enough axle wrap to justify buying new springs? I really don't want to drop the doe on new springs right now but I think it may be more important than the other things I have my money saved for. I considered a traction bar, but for the price of a bud built I'd rather just spend a little more and get new leafs. What do you think?

Only way I knew I had Axel Wrap was coming up to a stop and it felt that the rear raised up, and when ya let off the brakes you got what felt like a tap from behind. Thus the whole kit from Wheelers.

Lube the zerks then check it again and see if that helps. Cheap enough to do if you haven't done it in a while.

That won't help axle wrap. Might help with vibrations though.

from my understanding it's more of when you come to a stop and then let go of the brakes you feel a thud or like mentioned a "tap" from behind. Yours just sounds like rattling/loose noises maybe some grease would help?

yours doesn't look like excessive axle wrap to me...
but then... the video does not display the axle under much load.

Axle wrap is most visual during hard acceleration from a dead stop
as well... when braking hard to a stop.

to create even more axle twist (wrap)...
the rear tire requires some resistance/load
similar to an attempt at climbing a ledge or rock.

    for unladen/lite street duty...
    yours look fine.

be sure to keep the U-joints and spline shaft filled with fresh grease.

axle wrap will rear it's ugly head even more so...
if wielding large diameter tires, that weigh more.

Buy new springs. Take video. See the exact same thing. Be dissapointed.

In other words, looks fine. Springs have to give a bit to work and these trucks dont put down near enough power to need a bar.

I don't feel anything while braking. Its the axle twisting while accelerating that I am worried about. The rattling or whatever sounds you hear in the video are just normal truck noises.

There was quite a load. I am supercharged, have 33x12.5 tires, and gave it about 3/4 throttle in 2nd geat from 2000 rpm to around 3500 rpm IIRC. I have a video from a dead stop and it looks to be about the same as in this video. If this is ok for cruising around on the street then im not too concerned. I don't feel any clunks or thumps so I think its ok. I regularly grease my driveshaft as well. I just want to get as much power to the ground as I can. Thanks for the input!

This is what I am worried about. I would hate to buy new springs only to see the same thing happen. Thanks for the input!

In your video, the axle-wrap did not seem excessive to me. I've seen other similar videos where it was much worse than that. Just my opinion.

Well thats good! You guys are saving me from dropping $$$ on new springs! Springs are however still on my list for future mods. Just not a top priority at the moment...

honestly you're probably just experiencing more torque on the rear end due to the S/C (over stock) making you think it's axle wrap. I could not tell from the video that it was moving forward or back, fish-eye view and all :)

I looked into this. It would be perfect. However, at $445 plus shipping, I'd rather get new springs that control the axle wrap. More benefits from new springs as well. If it were half the price I'd probably go for it.

I'll tell you what, I've got the whole OME springs, shocks and toytec shackles under my super underpowered 2.7L and I still had axle wrap for some reason, I got the Bud Built and it completely cured everything.

I too have bad axle wrap with the 2.7 motor. For rear springs, I have the Deaver 8 pack. My auto trans has a shift kit and with every shift, my Inchworm Lefty thumps the bottom of the trans tunnel.
Is your truck a regular cab short bed? Mine is. I contacted Bud... he was going to check if the trac bar would fit my application but I haven't heard back.

    Thanks.
