The additive package in the oil is usually "wears" out faster than the base oil itself. From what I've seen, just about any "good" oil will get you to 5,000 to 7,500 miles with no problems. On my WRX, I changed every 4k just because of it being a turbo. I plan on changing at my first 1,000 miles, and every 5k after.
I'll probably just run Mobil 1 like most of my other vehicles. Seems to have done well so far.

I just recently read the full "motor oil 101" on bitog and learned a lot from that. One thing I didnt realize... the big difference in extended life is that eventually the viscosity modifiers in conventional oil wear out and it looses the multi-viscosity property and starts to thicken up; whereas in synthetics the multi-viscosity trait is designed into hte base stock and never wears out. Also apparently synthetics run a bit thinner when cold even at the same weight grade as a comparable conventional which helps to reduce start up wear.

My last couple vehicles Ive run Mobil 1 at 5k intervals (conservative but fits the warranty req) and plan to do the same on my Taco :)
