I was taking a random picture of the truck today, when I noticed the rear door on the passenger side is lightly off in color, compared to the front door. I never noticed it until now, with how the sun light is hitting the side of the truck. Is this normal?

(Yes, I tried searching for this topic...couldn't find anything about doors, just mismatched grills.)

Shadow? The front door and front end look the same to me. The rear door and bedside look the same to me.

Wow it does look different. Was it the angle or shade? The rear quarter panel looks the same as the rear door but the front door and hood looks lighter

Agreed. The a pillars match the darker color.

I'll be checking my MGM tomorrow.

I pulled the truck forward, it's still the same.

I turned the truck around and checked the other side and the color matches all the way.

Do you think anything will come of it if I brought it up with the dealership? With Toyota?

Will never know unless you pursue it. The difference in color is noticeable.

Good luck and let us know what you find out...

Thanks. I've started by sending an email with pictures to the internet/fleet salesman that sold the truck to me.

    I'll keep this thread updated.

Yeah I would raise hell for a new truck. The color may be the same but when painting the angle of the door when it is painted affects the way the light reflects off of its metallic additive. Like if a door was painted horizontally it would reflect differently than the way it would if the door was painted at a slight offset vertically. Also how the paint is dried has an influence on tone also, if you look hard enough you will notice that difference between your flares and you truck

Maybe the front and back doors were painted in different locations and shipped in for the final assembly?

It is just a slight difference in one door why raise hell instead of living with it. I could care less if one door was off compared to the rest of the truck. It is just a truck and you spend most of the time on the interior. Seriously though if it is that big of a deal to you then get the door repainted on Toyotas dime.

I understand that up to a certain dollar amount in repairs, the dealership doesn't have to tell you they did anything before selling it to you as "new". That said, at minimum, I want them to admit that repairs were made prior to sale and have it documented just in case I sell this back to the dealership and they do that paint thickness test.

No offense, but the exterior-doesn't-matter-because-I'm-mostly-inside is a moot point for me. I'd like to have a vehicle that looks good to me; given that I purchased it brand new, I expect paint-uniformity to make myself feel better about the sharp depreciation that occurred as soon as I drove it off the lot.

that is what I was gonna say get the paint fixed but a new truck is overkill considering yours runs fine I hope.

Lol, yeah, an entirely brand new vehicle just b/c of the paint would have left me speechless. It's a great truck, sans the paint issue.
