A lady ran a red light Tuesday and hit me in the passenger side. That knocked me into the other lane where another lady hit my drivers side.

I hit my head and shoulder on the side of the passenger seat and then hit the drivers side window with my head when the other car hit me.

My side airbags did not go off. I dislocated my shoulder and got a concussion from the hits.

It did not have a scratch, dent or nick on it before then.

So much for my beautiful black 18x8 wheels with no scratches.

Looks like I need a new truck

I am ok with how it held up. It did ring my bell good though. I was slurring my speech and walking like I was drunk for 2 days. My head is still killing me and I am nauseated from the concussion. My shoulder is also killing me. My vision in the right eye is also off from the impact messing my eye up some.

They better total it and give me a good price. It was a great 2013. When I got it serviced a few weeks ago, the dealer tried to talk me into selling it to them.

A little duck tape for the wheel and a little buffing on the paint. Good as new.

It is interesting that the front upright just shattered into several pieces. The tie rod was the only thing holding my wheel on. Both upper and lower ball joint mounts on the upright shattered. One piece of the upright went through the metal on the passenger's floor board. It did not go past the carpet.

Lawyer up and if they want to fix it demand a diminished value settlement. Should be no problem since it is a 2013.

Hey man, sucks to lose your brand new truck like that. But FWIW, a former co/worker and person I went to school with died today. She was only 19. Got hit when she was pulling out and went in between two semi trucks who let her cut through and hit a dump truck she couldn't see. Could've been a lot worse for you, glad to hear you're still mostly okay, and most importantly, alive.

That is sad when you hear about some one like her. I know it could be a lot worse. I worked EMT for awhile. I saw some really bad stuff at accidents.

Yeah man, nasty accidents. Sucks. I always thought I could handle EMT, but I don't think I could. They see some sad stuff. And I'm not even that emotional of a guy.

I was good at it and loved the adrenalin, but that made me decide emergency medicine was not for me.

Sorry to hear man. I've been in some nasty accidents whether in vehicles and as a pedestrian and cyclist. Best of luck with your recovery.

Lawyer up indeed. Before running to your own or looking for someone who does no-fault cases, check with your insurance company to see if they have someone that can represent you. Their lawyers are vicious.

    Glad you are OK.

I went thru a similar ordeal just a month ago and still feel nervous going thru intersections now.

Your side airbags didn't go off probably because you were hit on the side at an angle (from the 2nd vehicle) as opposed to a 90-degree impact. Had there been a passenger in your truck, the side airbags on that side would have deployed from that first perpendicular impact. The manual has a whole section on how and when each airbag will deploy.
